My folks borrowed my Tsx for the day and my mom accidently pulled open the storage bin instead of pushing it and now it doesn't close! I know my mother isn't that strong, but it is broken, gosh what happened here? i guess they don't make hondas/acuras like they used to . the car is less than a month old and i will have to wait until next friday until they will have to fix it at the acura dealer. plus they said they have no loaners when i called in for an appointment, what gives. this isn't honda anymore, its acura.

 

pass the owner;s manual to each of your family member.. then give them an exam.. the one who did't pass.. huh.... tell him/her kiss goodbye to your TSX lor...

 

well, I imagine by ripping open the compartment by force your mom broke the clip that keeps it in closed. now that there isn't a clip you can't really expect it to close. i liken that to breaking the antenna off a car then complaining the radio sucks.

 

gonna have to agree. It's not the cars fault she ripped off the cover

 

just order a new one, take 5 minutes, screw the dealer

The whole piece slides out. Try pushing it back in. I've had to remove mine a bunch of times.

So your mom breaks the cubby and now "Honda/Acura does'nt build them like they use to ?" I'm all for complaining about certain things but this it out of hand.

Hey man, Just wanted to let you know that I dont think they are on very well because mine broke off about 3 weekes after I got the car. All I did was gently push down like always and it broke off the track. Mine probably had a weak connetion I guess but Acura ordered a new one.

 

hey, today Acura fixed it no charge since it is still under warranty, i'm happy , just can't remember if it was fixed to like it was before. the door opens really fast now when i push to open it. i can't recall do the storage bin doors on ur Tsx open slow or really fast? oh well, its free and the door opens again, i'm glad. plus, the acura service team gave a us a casette tape and recorded what service they did to the car.

 

Slow - it takes maybe a full second to open all the way. All the compartment doors are fluid-damped. Compare it to the NotAnAshtray, sunglass holder and cupholder doors.

 

so, if it opens slow then the Acura service didn't put it to it's original form. do u think i should take it back again? the door is fine it just opens faster now.

 

Depends on what you prefer. Sometimes while driving, I get impatient and push the door open a bit faster with my finger. I think the damped action is designed to impart a more luxury feel and prevent annoying vibrations if the doors just snap open. I wouldn't go back just to get that fixed - have them address it during the next regular service if it bugs you.
