The cargo net is useless

My two grocery bags fell over twice in this shallow cargo net. It's useless. I'd asked the dealer to install hooks for the large cargo net I'd saved from my last car, a Lexus. That net is at least twice the depth of the Acura net. The dealership refused and would only install the Acura one. And now it's useless!

Is there some way to get the "cargo" net to hold grocery bags upo?

I have some Bungee cords, the TSX net (vertical), a 350Z net (horizontal) and a Rubbermaid storage box (about $5) to keep stuff like grocery bags from moving around. The TSX net keeps the storage box from sliding around the trunk and falling over.

Bob,

I've been trying to find out if the 350z coupe or convertible net fit better. Which one do you have? I heard from the other board that the fit is really tight, but i don't know which 350z net it was.

Thanks

Not one of Honda's better designs, is it?

And while not quite useless (the net works well for smaller items), taller packages like grocery bags, or even briefcases won't remain upright unless you can wedge them in with other things against the sides near the clips.

Like Bob, I've found a way to utilize bungee cords; two hooked in to the floor rings in an "X" across the trunk bottom will secure some packages so that the taller items can be held in place and won't fall over so easily.... sure wish the net was deeper like the one on my CL though...

I use a series of bungee cords arranged in a inverted U, attached to floor rings, plus another set from the back rings diagonally up to the roof of the trunk, near the hinge. Using these, I can secure most things like bags and boxes around the perimeter of the trunk and leave the centre area open for other "drop-in" cargo.

Kiteboy,

Care to show us a picture of your bungee setup?

Thanks,

Sam

Since this site doesn't allow attached pics, I've posted it on another forum that does.

I forget who it was, but I read somewhere else that the cargo net people are using from the 350Z is the coupe version so I'll be picking one of those up on the weekend. Good find to those that discovered it!

Here's a thread I posted a while back with some photos of my inexpensive cargo net solution.

http://www.acura-tsx.com/forums/show...&threadid=6517

It works pretty well for keeping stuff from sliding around.

I just installed a 350z coupe cargo net in my TSX a couple of days ago. Here's a pic this morning. It's not really good cause I was in a hurry. I can take a better pic if anyone wants to see one.

From my friendly neighbourhood Nissan dealership It was $50CDN. The one I went to was the only one that had it in stock. I called around and the other dealerships wanted $55 so I saved $5 by calling around.

That's the second item I bought from them. The first was a 26" Bosch Microedge wiper.

Here are some pretty good pics of the 350Z Cargo Net. This isn't my car or pics, just some info I thought I'd pass along.

Regards.

I have an alternative cargo net solution that I rigged up. It works very well and it cost me only a few bucks for parts (I already had the net from my CL, but a similar one can be had at Walmart for about $15). I'd like to show pictures because it's difficult to explain. I don't have a didital camera so I was hoping that one of the NJ members could shoot it for me.

I don't think it's useless, but it's true that you can't put a full grocery bag in it and expect it to stay in one place. It's a cargo net, not a grocery net. I put small things in it all the time to keep them from flying around in my trunk, and it works just fine for that purpose.

I had the same setup with adjustable bungee cord. But I like the net better.
