So a few months ago my A/C was intermittently blowing cold air. I fixed it using help from this forum and found it was a relay.
Today on a road trip I heard a loud bang and some clunks (almost like Iran over something in the road, but didn't), and my A/C stopped working. I look under the engine and looks like my compressor housing has a lot of cracks and one is exposing the metal on the inside. So it looks like it exploded.

I know a lot on this forum have this problem. What should I do to try and get this fixed? I cannot afford thousands to replace the entire system.

My 04 TSX just rolled over 72k miles.

 

mine went out same way at 85k. to fix it right.. you have to replace the a/c compressor.. that item was exploded from the back of it.. that is why a bang noise and all freon spread all over and leaked out. and to avoid pay more labor later.. i end up replaced a/c compressor, a/c clutch, a/c coil, the entire a/c condensor with the dryers etc.. and the whole nine yards.. yes buy brand new set . no rebuilt crab. or after mkt. just will get you bugs later. do this will last u another 80k.
i want new car but not worth it. new cars now are all designed not to last. why pay so much again for the body when u need to pay for repairs anyways. so i keep mine and no car notes and pay for repairs. still a lot less than buy a new one. no matter what brand u buy toyota got they bugs too. i gave up. paint issues? not yet. but i think my next car is Lexus GS line up. i bought the tsx brand new. i dont like to buy other ones problems. i have 110k now. i try to keep this one w low miles to extend the years

 

I am fixing mine myself with after market parts and then sellimg it to carmax. Im probably going to either get an 08 tls or a newer tsx...or possibly the new si, not sure yet though.
