buying a tsx

Hi guys im new so idk if this is the right spot to post this thread. i apologize in advance if its in the wrong location.

so im buying an acura tsx for 10,200 with a small fender bender in the back. overall when i went to check the car it was smooth & solid. comes with nav and the owner installed a back up camera, bluetooth audio, and an ipod connector. it has 73K on the ODO. oil change every 3000 miles. inside was spotless and everything worked well except the silver metallic plastic was rubbing off.

here is the car fax:

Unless you've got a repair shop to value the repair, you don't know how much to discount from fair market value. I would get at least 2 shops to provide estimates.

A thorough vehicle inspection by a shop specializing in used car inspections has always payed its cost for me. I wouldn't buy a car w/o one.

If you do above, and it still looks like a good deal, then you're making an informed choice. Since we don't have that info, we can't provide much useful input.

good luck

That price seems high to me (a soon to be 9 y/o car), especially since you've got to put about a grand into it. That's pretty low miles for an 05 though, and as long as it's just the bumper cover, it's not a big deal. (I had one that looked just like it, silver over gray, and loved it, so maybe I'm biased a little). Careful with the silver though, it's a bitch to match, especially since the OE paint has been exposed to the elements for up to close to 9 years.

I'd bed you're looking at a minimum of 2k for a shop to fix and paint that repair. Then you'll have the deminished value of a car that has been in an accident and been repaired.

I would think the car should sell for more like 8500.

figure that the car undamaged would be valued around 12500 - 3k for repairs = 9500 - 1000 for diminished value = 8500 sale price
