Brake Rotor change - easy way to remove those 2 screws.

I finally got around to changing my rotors.
Those 2 screws that secure the rotor, what the heck, mission impossible!

Out of desperation, and a quick Google search, I read a snippet from a forum post about using the two release screws, the two holes you use to push the rotor, releasing it if it is stuck.

It was either going out and buying an impact wrench (which I should get anyways), this idea, or drilling those silly things out.

Well... the release screws work.

Ratchet in your screws like you normally would to break the Rotor free.
Then tighten evenly until you hear metal turning on metal, kinda goes "Ping!" and you can't really turn it anymore.

Then back the screws out, either all the way or part way if you still expect to need them, I didn't. Grab your trusty screwdriver and with little effort at all take out those two screws.

Tada!

It will leave a mark, but who cares! You got those horribly annoying screws off in less than 5 minutes! A simple buff cleaning removes the marks easy enough if your up to getting everything cleaned up. I used a Dremel with a wire finish brush to buff off all the old grime and surface rust. Cleaning took the most time.

So you can put your wheels back together and enjoy those new brakes. So shiny!

I'd like to thank that post I read which gave the idea. It made this task so very easy when other methods involved expensive tools or brute force.
I don't know what that post is or where it was from as it was a snippet from a larger search, but thank you! I don't take credit for the idea, just wanted to share!

thanks, in addition, one can use these manual impact driver, spray some bp blaster if you have time. my TSX in rust belt have these screw on for 10 years, and have no problem remove them at all with manual impact driver in 1 min with each corner.

Yeah thank goodness I removed those bolts about a year after I bought my car. For those that want to still keep them in use some anti seize.
