Big Fogging Problem in winter.

I have a huge problem with the windows fogging at night, all of them literally ice over . I have AC on all the time and it doesn't help!!! I have to sit at least 5mins with defrost going before i can see anything out the front windows, but the rear side windows are still iced over... GRRR

Anyone have any tips on keeping them from fogging. I don't know why so much moisture in the car. I keep the heater temps pretty cool too.

All Hondas do that. My only real gripe with the brand.

The real solution - park in a garage overnight.

I've never experienced this problem. Could this be due to wet carpet? Up here in Canada, I get frost on the outside in the mornings but no moisture inside the car.

No moisture inside the car here either. Just find the rear window fogging up all the time...

NO moisture ever either, except when I get it washed and they wet the carpets, then I get all the windshield ice.

I wonder if the anti-fogging spray we use for our helmet visors while playing ice hockey would work for the car windows..

Haven't experienced any moisture in the car. You mentioned you keep the heater temps pretty cool, did you try putting the heating temp higher?

Dude where the hell do you live the frozen tundra or something?

no way should your car be icing over in an hour.

Damn reminds me of "day after tomorrow" or something.

I sometimes get a lot of moisture on the inside side of the windshield. It wierd sometimes it'll be almost dripping and sometimes there's absolutely nothing. Only thing that changes is the outside weather, if it's really rainy I get a lot of moisture. No rain, no moisture.

that stuff didn't work well for me at all.... I just went with a cage style instead.

I've never had a problem with my windows fogging when parked outside for a while... I'll have to check it the next time I park it outside overnight.

Well, get out the old credit card ice scraper, put the car into defog/defront and highest heat/fan you can on front and rear. Let is sit for about a minute and scrape off.

And yes, if you have dirty windows, it will fog/ice faster.

I do the same thing in my Jeep before I head home.

Now if you're talking inside...well that's because moisture is trapped in the car. You may want to just barely crack a window (basically just losen the seal) to slowly let it out while parked. That MAY help (I'm no expert).

Gotta scrape...nothing like freezing temps and frigid hands! Btw, one time, living in Boston with an Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme (!) the doors froze shut....now that was an experience!

ahhh

yeah the windows fog up fast. I went for dinner with my parents yesterday, the car was parked and not driven for a good few hours, then we went to eat, and the place is only like 1KM away, so after din, about 2 hours later it was iced up on the inside already! GRRR

I cleaned the windows with a clean Microfiber the other day and it didn't seem to help, i'll try again with a cleaning solution, just haven't had time.

I am using the Rubber All season mats in the car, so the only point of moisture i think i'm introducing is from breathing, but i've never seen any car ice up so badly! I should take a picture next time and show u guys, it's pretty bad!!!

Which part of the country are you in exactly?

And if you're so concerned about the fogging, crack a window ever so slightly or tilt the moonroof open a bit. It'll get colder insidek but it should also allow the moisture to escape from inside the car and equalize the temperature to prevent the temperature difference from resulting in moisture that is freezing into ice.

oops sorry

I'm in Winnipeg , MB , Central Canada , right above North Dakota.

I don't really want to crack the windows, because it's something i've never had to do before! I just want to figure out why this car is fogging so badly even after like a 2min ride.

I'm going to check the AC unit see if the drain plug is plugged up... or i wonder if my injne intake has caused some kind of water leak or something since it requires the relocation of that coolant line.,

It's definitely a moisture issue. For whatever reason, you have excess moisture getting into your car or that stay trapped in your car. Also, make sure you don't park with the air still on recirculate because that will prevent fresh air from outside from making it into the car as easily.

You may be touching the nerve of the problem right there.

My car has the same problem......fogs wayyy too easily.....dont really have a problem with it icing up though.....all cars have that during winter.

My fogging problem happened after I tinted the window.....maybe the tint isnt dried all the way yet??.....or it could be because my windows haven't been cleaned since the tint 3 months ago. Cant seem to find a good cleaning solution for tinted windows.....soap and water leaves residues.

Try using more your heater, and send some air at the feet to keep the carpets dryer.

You might also be seeing the natural release of plasticizers (sp?). All the plastics in the car emit/release a residue, just part of having plastic. Just so happens that it builds up on the windows in the car which in turn make it more sensitive to fogging up. Solution, clean the windows with a quality window cleaner. Windex and such suck. I use a product called Stoner.

Google it if you want more info.

Same problem in our Miata. Trial and error & we found that the A/C appeared to deal with the issue best. Just got our TSX. Yep. A bit of fogging for sure. Tried the A/C (cool outside & with heat on) and it also seemed to deal with the issue pretty well. Someone told me the A/C ends up de-humidifying the air. Not sure, but it seemed to work. It doesn't cost anything to give it a try. Best, Tom
