Automatic front engine mount in manual car?

Okay, so I now have a crappy aftermarket front engine mount.
It's stiff, which is okay, but for winter I will want to go back to a softer OEM style mount.

So, I see that the manual cars come with a vacuum assisted front mount.

I see that the automatic cars come with a hydraulic mount, is it also vacuum assisted? Or just hydraulic...
P/N: 50830SDAA04

My question is, has anyone with a manual car switched to a mount for the automatic car and if so, what was the difference in feel? Is it vacuum assisted as well?

Right now my vacuum line is plugged because my aftermarket mount is just rubber without vacuum assist. I would normally just buy the OEM manual mount and be done, but I'm too curious

The difference is mechanical; different bolt positions and mounting details for different transmissions. See page 5.17 of FSM.

good luck

I thought the front engine mount wouldn't matter depending on transmission. I thought only the transmission mounts would change.

So, on advance auto parts for instance, it says the same mount can be used on either transmission.

So they're both hydraulic and vacuum assist? Still confused.

My mistake! I was looking at info on rear mounts. Front mount appears to be the same for both auto and manual.

good luck

Okay. Thanks. I bought the Beck/Arnley part and we'll see how it goes. Interesting that the manual/automatic mounts are different part numbers and one is much more $ than the other. We'll see how this goes.

Amazon had it for only 86 bucks shipped (prime). Still Hydraulic and still vacuum assisted. Should be pretty good then.

Thanks!

These mounts have liquid damping that is mobilized when vacuum is applied to the mount. A vacuum actuator turns a valve opening the liquid to achieve active liquid damping. Vacuum only actuates the small valve in the mount.

Active damping only occurs at idle.

good luck

Yea, that is my understanding as well. The vacuum is pulled at idle and the mount softens up to help isolate the lower engine frequencies, since they'd transmit into the cabin.

Update in case anyone cares.

I bought the Beck/Arnley front mount. I still have a cheap chinese rear mount. Front mount softened up the car back to stock at idle, but under load/accel it is still sitffer than normal (because of the rear mount doing the work).

Overall, I'm happy with it. Car feels back to normal enough for me. 6MT
