Hey everyone. Recently bought a 2008 TSX with 107k miles. I have put about 4k miles on it since buying it in August of 2024. I have noticed when driving that the transmission will struggle sometimes when RPMs hover around 1600 and low speeds. It seems to do fine above and below this RPM. The best way I can describe the feeling is similar to when a manual transmission is too low of RPM and so it bogs causing the driver to change downshift.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? I still want to change the transmission fluid. Are there any upgrades I can do to the automatic transmission?

For transparency I have replaced the following since I have bought it.
New front rotors and pads
New stainless brake lines for front
New spark plugs
2 oil changes Mobil 1 5w-30 Full Synthetic
New VTEC solenoid gasket
Rotated tires twice (at both oil changes)
New alternator
New belt
New tensioner pulley

Hi,

You mention a good list of work performed on the car but nothing related to the transmission. I would check the level and perhaps consider a transmission fluid change.
Beyond that you could be into something engine related (air filter, fuel filter, clogged injectors, VTC system issues, etc).

 

Thank you for the reply. I have checked the transmission fluid level, it is full and looks clean but I do want to change it with new stuff just been busy. The same shaking also happens at 1900 RPMs and at both instances I usually give it some gas to downshift it. I have shaken the axles when underneath the car and they dont wiggle and seem tight. I will run some fuel system cleaner through the gas next time to clean the injectors.
