Auto tranny problem (sensor)??

Hey, hopefully someone has come across this and can help out. It happened to me on two occasions during the past week -

1. this morning, a few minutes after I started the car and while still driving @ ~ 20mph or so, it would not go past the 2nd gear (accelerating further would not do anything, so i did not press too hard). Then, when I stopped, battery light came on and the engine shut off. I restarted without a problem, only to face the same problem - the car would barely move, battery light on again and then engine shut off. It all disappeared after I idled for a few minutes though and the rest of the commute (~45 miles) was fine.

2. last weekend while on the highway (after already driving 150+ miles), and going @ ~ 30mph in traffic, I suddenly felt that the car would not accelerate. Stepping up on the accelerator would not do anything. It kind of felt as if it were in neutral, but it was not. So i kicked it in neutral, then back to auto just to make sure and changed lanes from left to right. By the time I was done, the tranny kicked back in and there were no more problems until this morning (I did put on ~ 300 miles btn the incidents).

One thing that I am thinking is that this morning I hit a relatively large puddle right before it happened and, come to think of it, the same might have been the case last weekend, although I am not 100% sure (it was def raining tho). Anyway, I am wondering whether it could be some sort of a sensor getting wet and malfunctioning until it gets dry again???
Any input?
thx much

I doubt it has anything to do with the water.... If you have a CAI and water somehow got sucked into the intake and into the engine.... your engine would be screwed ie you wouldn't be able to keep driving.

Sounds like either the alternator or the battery. I would have you dealer check it out, and not drive anymore until the problem is fixed

The alternator was my guess. When I first started driving in high school (no TSX then), what I thought was the battery light came on while driving home. I got home and told my parents about it, and they said there is no light for the battery, it's the alternator, and I was very lucky to even get home. However, I had not noticed the car driving any differently like you described. The only time I ever had a car that wouldn't shift was when it had a tranny leak. The car wouldn't shift past 3rd. Again, this wasn't in my TSX.

I had a similar problem where my my car wouldn't shift into 5th on the highway one morning in full auto mode (it was obvious, given the speed I was going). I tried moving between SS & auto, but it wouldn't shift. During lunch, I checked it & it was fine. That night I stopped by the dealership, and again everything was fine. No problems since, and it's been about 3 months.

For the 1st problem you could've gotten water into the accessory belt, causing it to slip and thus having the battery light go on. This would also affect your power steering. Just a possibility.

I've noticed the 2nd problem happen in my 2006 auto. Sometimes it hesitates to go from 4th to 5th. But it usually just takes care of itself in a few seconds so I just ignore it.

90% I would say it's the alternator.

that "battery" light has little to do with your battery. its the CHARGING system light. my guess is the alternator. could be loose belt, could be a bad alternator, or perhaps the battery.

Your problem might be caused by the fuel pump relay (recall from Honda). The engine probably stalled.
