Anyone have problems with moleskin?
Anyone have problems with moleskin?
Hey there,
I tried to search for this but came up with a threads that didn't answer the question.
As we all understand it by now, we need moleskin to do a proper tinting job for the most part. I dont mind using it as a precautionary measure no matter which brand i use. However, reading about a couple of people's moleskin that the adhesive melted in the summer and got sticky and all over the window kind of concerns me a little bit.
According to the seller here that sells the moleskin, he states on his website that he has worked it out with the manufacturer to make the adhesive stronger against heat and moisture. Has anyone used any of the new stuff?
I'm in Ga so heat will be an issue for me especially when summertime comes around.

Hey... for those of you who have actually taken the door panel off before. I went out to my TSX and took a nice long look at the rubber peice that's opposite the felt. The two peices seem to be the same length and dimensions. Is it possible to buy that felt peice and replace the rubber peice with it?
hmm... Anyone have a pic of the door that's broken down into the parts? like the parts catalog? I think this just might work. From what i can see, it looks like they go on the same way.
Come on guys, help me out. I think i'm onto something here.

You need to install a small strip of mole skin. A 1/4 inch strip should do the trick. ½ and inch strips seem to be folding off the blade a bit which causes a bit of glue to stick to the glass. It’s not hard to remove the glue though guys.
The new stuff seems to be working better though.
Also make sure you clean the blade EXTEMLY well before you install the moleskin and it should not streak.
I have had mine on for over 1 1/2 years with no streaking and I live in FLORIDA.
You have to install it correctly. Take your time and it will pay off in the end.
I also include an extra strip for each window just in case you have problems installing it or feel the need to do it again in the future.
Cheers

I went to a local fabric store and purchased two sheets of black adhesive-backed felt. Cutting each strip to size was a pain in the ass, but I've had tints for over a year and have had absolutely no problems.
