Anybody else have a problem with the "chrome" peeling off the grill!?!?

I'm so pissed. I had my car in for a crappy pass. wiper blade replacement at the dealer ('06's seem to be having a problem with this-it's under warranty) and I didn't notice it. I haven't washed my car in a week so it can't have been a problem with a car wash jet. Well, I look at the front of my car and there's this jagged circular spot the size of a quarter whare the "chrome"/mylar has started coming off. I now have a really shiny black spot on the driver side of the grill since the grill is apparently wrapped in this stuff and not painted. Has anyone had this problem? I did a thead search and found a mention a couple of years ago where the same thing happened. Their delaer replaced it. Is this covered be warranty??? Seems like a crummy quality issue to me. . BTW, I'm talking about the "T" shaped horizontal part in the middle where the Acura symbol is in the middle.

No problem on my '04. Doesn't hurt to ask the dealer about a replacement, though.

Just talked to the dealer and they said they would replace it. I went back out to look at it and found another nickel size part that's peeling. He said it's probably the result of rock chips. Still seems odd that it happened. I would expect that the frontmost portion of a car would be engineered to withstand normal driving. Never had a problem with other cars. There is also no tiny dent in the shiny black part that I would think a rock or pebble would leave if it hit the mylar hard enough to start it peeling. I also do very limited highway driving and even then, it's against traffic. I'm just really happy that the dealer is going to make it better. The part costs $101.28 on eStore!

Glad to hear it all worked out .

I have a nice gouge out of my hood that I'd like to do something about, but not really sure what, lol. I just try not to look at it. Chips happen, and if I fix this one, I'll probably just get another to take its place.

Red face peeling faux chrome

My 06 started peeling in two places both where side chrome meets the grill frame each about an inch by a sixteenth.....went to service department and he happily ordered replacement, covered in warranty....he commented it was the first he had seen on tsx, had seen on mdx faux chrome...

Got the grill piece replaced today. I'm disappointed that Honda chose that part of the car to save on costs. I hope that the new piece doesn't peel. I looked closer today and it seems like the frame around it is the regular fake chrome that all cars have. For some reason only the strip in the middle has the cheap mylar wrap on it. The rest of the car doesn't look like it has it.

Is this what you are talking about?

This is the result of 45k highway miles! But I am happy to hear the dealers are replacing it for free.

My front grill has chips. When they replaced it, did you get to keep the old one? Or did they throw it away. I'd like to get mine replaced, but keep the old one. *cough*

Yes, I drive a lot for work. So far so good.....

Before the TSX I racked up 150,000 miles in my 2004 Accord V6 (in 2 and 1/2 years).

Great. They put the replacement on wrong!!!! Now both ends of it are popping out and look like they are cutting into the gray plastic. I am soooooooo irritated.
