My Cat. after 3 weeks installed gave me a CEL and the code read P0420 Cat. Efficiency problem. Had brand new 02 sensor (rear one that goes into the Cat.) replaced just to rule that out as the cause and still came back on a week later. I have sent my Cat. back to RT and they have sent a brand new replacement one back to me, should be getting it real soon.

The Cat is a very good product still just the increase in air flow is too much and the Stock ECU has a very narrow set of specs in regards to how much air flow can go through the Cat. It may not be that the Cat. is defective but as to the air flow is going through too fast or too well.

I am still thinking of whetther to sell the new Cat. or put it back in. I do like the gains and the sound.

Like i mentioned before.. I haven't had any CEL since I installed my random tech cat a few months ago. I guess i've been very lucky. I'm looking to get an exhaust soon so i hope it continues to function fine.

You need to get the 18mm one.

I wonder if resetting the battery everytime the CEL comes on is a wise option

I throw codes multiple times per week. I realize this is a pretty old thread but I'd still like to get this figured out - any new news / suggestions?

Get an anti-fouler, install it.

I popped a CEL a week or so ago. Cleared it and haven't gotten it again. I do have 2 anti-foulers.

bringing this back. Installing mines tomorrow and hoping it works. Gas mileage sucks with the constant CEL

I'm running two gaskets per godfather2's advice, but that didn't prevent me from getting a CEL on my 04 6MT. I installed the RT cat a year ago, and was fine for about six months, at which point I began getting CELs. I installed a defouler and boom, not a single problem since. Great $5 solution and couldn't be easier to install. Jacking the car up took longer than screwing in the defouler!
