airbag removal labor?
airbag removal labor?
Ok...this is going to sound stupid, but a highway token lodged between the cruise control button and the airbag/horn cover.
Now the token is rattling around inside the steering wheel everytime I trun the car!
Aaargh.....dealership wants to replace the airbag.
I told them, no. Spend 1 hour attempting to remove it and the token should be right there. They think it's inside the steering column and would require a replacement airbag.
Has anyone here successfully removed the airbag module from the steering wheel? If so, how long did it take and how difficult was it?
THinking the dealer's trying to snow me.....but we'll see.
Thanks

Try to get a hold of a pdf file for steering wheel removal. It will give you a detail instruction. I thought I have that manual, unfortunately I stored it somewhere on my other computer. But you'll be able to find them on the net. Try www.handaaccessories.com first. You might find them there. Good luck. AND don't go to the dealer for it.
matelot,
A picture of what?
The token is inside the steering wheel, behind the horn/airbag cover.
For the naked eye, it looks just like a steering wheel.
When you turn the wheel, you can hear the token tumbling around inside.
I sure hope the toekn doesn't short out any "deploy airbag" sensors!
I'll go searching for a pdf...see what I can find.

EvilJohn has changed his steering wheel.
Gmfreed installed the 2005 illuminated steering wheel controls is his 2004
Flopez82 had to install the Voice command buttons, on the steering wheel.
I would try hitting up one of those members.

Dealership has treated me right on this one.
They removed the airbag, removed the token and didn't charge me.
Filed it under "rattle in steering wheel".
Also..I'm now on the list for an updated rear control arm due to the constant pulling to the left.
Slowly, Acura Corporate is adding up the number of complaints and working on an update.
Until then, free tire rotations and if my tires are worn uneven, free tires whe the y update the control arm. woohoo!

They did treat you right. Congrats. It's OK to name them and give the props. Which dealership did you deal with?
