It's kind of hard to tell, but it looks like the wool felt installed at the top of the door (step 9, page 2) might also cure the "tint scratching" problem. Any other thoughts on that?

If the noise/vibration is caused by the speaker volume, why not simply install the Dynamat speaker kit for $20 instead of applying seals on everything around the speaker, except the speaker?

This sucks. My VIN is after the ones in the TSB. I just took my TSX to the dealer to have the door rattles fixed. They only worked on the drivers door. They put it some foam tape inbetween two overlapping panels on the door panel. Now the rattle is worse! When I read on hear about the new fix I was excited. Can anyone recommend an approach to the dealer on them fixing my car even if the VIN is not within the new TSB?

if your car does not fall in the VIN range listed in the TSB the dealer can make a special consideration for you to the district parts and service manager and if they ok the work then you should be good to go. if you read the tsb above it's in the right-side column under the Warranty Claim Information: "Out-of-Warranty"

also, i agree with jtso and the installation of dynamats where the speakers reside. i guess i will be doing this when it's time to upgrade the speakers in the car.

I just got mine back on Friday and my vin didn't fall in the range, yet Acura fixed my door lock rattle for me free. I must say that I'm pretty impressed with the service I've gotten so far from this dealer.

I had this done yesterday with my 5000 mile service/oil change. It seems to have stopped the buzzing. But the bass also seems quieter than it used to be. Also, the service rep said that they were going to replace the speaker itself, which doesn't seem to be mentioned in this service bulletin.

Maybe they lowered your bass setting? They tried doing that to me once.

Where is this bass setting? The bass setting on the dashboard is still set at 0 as it was before. Is there some other setting somewhere?

I have a 20k service on 9/18 and they are going to take a look at this. They wouldnt order the 'kit' until they looked at the problem, i guess that kinda makes sense, I just dont want to have to go back. This is my first visit to a service center for the car, its kinda sad that someone else will be handling her.

I understand, but then I know they put a piece of wool between the top of the door panel and the seals, which technically should prevent the rubbing, no? That was my theory anyway.....

Sorry about the late response, I forgot about this thread. The service rep offered to take a look at it, I didn't really have to say much. What they did was they insulated the assembly inside the door. I was getting the rattle on both front doors. I still have a slight rattle every now and then on the driver's door, but it's much less pronounced now and something I can live with. Good luck with your dealer.

Has anyone taken in their TSX for this TSB (and an after market set of speakers) and asked the service dept "while you have the panels off could you swap the speakers out for me?" Just curious.

Your best bet is to call the dealer and book an appointment first.

I got mine back last week, and although the speakers don't buzz, there's now a rattling around the driver's side door lock. I can ignore it though, because now I can turn my speakers up.

Thats the problem with trying to fix rattles. The mechanic may create new rattles in the process.

Anyone in Canada get this done yet?

The dealership here in Atlanta (Ed Voyles) are waiting on the parts to perform this work on my TSX. It should be ready by today sometime. I'll let you all know how it sounds when I get it back.

OK, finally got my car back from the dealership. The rattles seem to be gone (at least I haven't been able to reproduce them yet). So far so good with the TSB fix....

So you just show this paper to the acura service center, and they'll fix the problem for you?

Crazydude, just mention the TSB, scheudle the appointment, ask for a loaner if you need one, and take it in.

They will fix it for you.

Agreed, I just mentioned the TSB number to them, they put it into the computer with my printout and the mechanic has to go and look it all up. They will have to order parts to fix it though, so just be prepared for it to take at least a day. Definitely get a loaner.

I had the TSB done (even though my VIN was out of range) and it really didn't work too well. I would say the rattles are not quite as bad but still there. They also failed to fix my steering column rattle. In fact its about 3x worse than when I brought it in.

I ended up doing it myself because I had the door apart to put felt on the rubber inside the car for tinting. I used some left over dynamat and it seems to have fixed the problem.

Has anyone heard a rattle from a door without the speakers being on? I have a 2005 TSX and when I driving in 1st or 2nd (at low RPMs usually) I can hear a rattling coming from the passenger side door.

Thumbs down SB 04-024 No GO

Just got my TSX (6sp/navi) back from the dealership. The car has been experiencing a buzzing vibration in both front door panels since it was new (15k miles ago). Sometimes also in the driver's side dash speaker.

I've been patently waiting for an "Acura Approved" TSB to fix this problem. The dealership performed SB 04-024 and another one thats supposed to reduce the vibration in the A-pillars. Well now it's worse then it's ever been.

The service managers responce was pretty much to "short neck it", saying they can only do what the TSB says to do. After some long deep discussion regarding the buzzing problem, I find that he has many TSX owners with the same problem.

I asked if we was willing to try an unapproved fix if I could find one through an owner's BBS like this one, and he aggreed.

What has worked for all of you? Have any of you had any success with Dynamat? How is it installed?

I can easily get the stereo to reproduce the problem by playing Peter Gabriel's CD, UP: track #5, I Grieve (the first 30 seconds or so).

I had this same TSB performed recently and it seemed to do the trick for me. Perhaps your service technician didn't do as good a job on the TSB as he should have.

i had them do exactly what the bulletin said and they did it for free even though my VIN wasn't listed. It's been about a month now and I haven't had any problems
