2006 5AT question

My car is about 2 months old with 2600 miles on it. When I change gear, R to N or N to D, not from 1st to 2nd...etc, there is a click noise after the gear has been changed. At first I thought that was a new car thing because I noticed it the first day I drove it home...but it is still happening today.

Is it the same for all the 2006 models?

Is it a click coming from the shifter area or is it a gear sound like the gears engaging? If you're going through neutral, you have to remember that the transmission effectively disconnects from the engine when placed in neutral.

i had that happen in my 06 5AT as well, i think it's not a problem since most of the Honda's auto transmission seems to have the same noise(everytime when u change gear), i hate the noise b/c it sounds like it's about to broke or soemthing, but i m sure it's normal

I've got the same noise. It's nothing more than the gears engaging. Shouldn't be harmful at all.

Doesn't sound like a click to me. More like a "taak" sound... It's normal if it is this sound as it happens on our previous hondas as well.

I have another question about my trans...last night I was driving down hill at about 45-50mph...and I started to brake for a red light ahead and it was still around 40mph when it automatically shifted down to 3rd....

Did this ever happen to you guys before?

the regular D mode...because I know if I'm in SS mode...it down shifts for you depending on the speed...i guess that's how fully auto mode does too??

When in SS mode it will stay in whatever gear you put it in except it will automatically shift to 1st gear when you come to a stop (or below 5mph or something like that). The fully automatic mode will downshift for you, particularly if you are going downhill and apply brakes.
