I need help with a 2005 Tsx auto Ac problem, The ac stopped working a couple of days ago, got a friend of mine who is mechanically inclined to check it out, checked relay, Freon and he said that the compressor has seized, he thinks that the clutch doesn't turn freely which indicates that there are broken pistons,I took it to a mechanic and he tried to turn it by hand and said the same that the Compressor, Dryer and another part has to be changed and the system has to be flushed and recharged.
I tried my self to turn the clutch but it does turn half a turn in either direction and stops, so my question is it definitely a seized compressor or there are other thing that might be the reason for it to stop working.

TSX compressors grenade, simple fact. The laundry list of parts is correct. The diagnosis is likely correct.

 

If you turned the inner face of the clutch, it should turn easily. I checked my 06 TSX and it turned easily in both directions. If clutch plate was dragging on compressor (too close clutch gap), there would be resistance. You should be able to hear/feel if this is the case.

Parts should be condensor, receiver/drier, compressor. Flush hoses. Some replace evaporator, but maybe receiver/drier and condensor caught everything. I would remove receiver/drier and drain oil to look for particles. Same w/ compressor. If you find a lot of material, you may want to go ahead w/ evaporator replacement.
