2004 TSX Automatic Transmission Case Leak

Took my car in for service, technician noticed transmission fluid leak and determined that the leak was coming from the transmission case. I also recently noticed a new noise coming from the car that is RPM related (pitch goes up and down with engine RPM). More of a tone/pitch and not any kind of "clacking" or "banging". Technician says the noise is coming from the transmission.

At the end of the day, technician recommends the transmission to be replaced. Of course, that's not a small chunk of change.

Would love to get others thoughts. Thanks!

I have noticeable but tolerable transmission whine in my 06 TSX and I recollect others do as well. Search may find more discussion on this, but it is not a reason to replace the trans unless noise is intolerable.

Regarding the leak, is it a crack, pinhole, fitting, or other source? Does it only leak when engine is running or drips when engine is off?

Suggest getting a 2nd opinion from a good trans shop on repairability of leak. Was this Acura service or other?

good luck
