06 TSX Memory Seats Don't Work (No Backlight)
Hi Everyone,
I've been browsing around the forums for the last few weeks in preparation of getting myself a new car and finally bought a 2006 Acura TSX. First off, I wanted to say this looks like an awesome community and has been very helpful already (even before owning an Acura). The car I got is in good condition but I discovered yesterday that the memory seats don't work. I know this has been discussed before and I've looked through some old threads but none have really come to a solution.
My problem is that when I unlock the doors with either of the 2 remotes (Driver 1 or Driver 2), I just get a "Welcome" message instead of "Welcome Driver X". The seats don't adjust or anything. Both remotes are linked as far as I can tell. To link them, I just press both the lock and unlock buttons on the remote (without the key in the ignition or anything). Is this correct?
The bigger problem I see is that at night, the buttons on the memory seat buttons on the drivers side door don't light up. Not only are the LEDs not lighting up (I think they're supposed to be green) but the normal backlighting isn't there. Pressing the memory button and holding it never results in a beep or confirmation. Pressing all 3 buttons while turning the key in the ignition to ON doesn't prompt any diagnostics like I've read should happen.
I assumed this might be a fuse but I went through some common ones yesterday that people said might cause this and they look fine. I've checked fuses 7, 14, 16, and 21 in the drivers footwell and fuses 15, 20 and 23 under the hood. Is there anything else I should check or do? Has anyone else had this problems and gotten it fixed? The car is out of warranty so any repairs would be coming out of my pocket.

Don't sweat it, if it needs to be moved, a moderator will take care of it. Based on what I often read here, my guess is it's OK here. Can't help you with your problem. We have an 07, but I really have no idea what your talking about. I'm not saying you don't have a problem, but my wife drives the car, and the seat stays put 99% of the time. If I drive it, I just open the door and push the #2 memory button and the seat moves (and it does beep). It wouldn't occur to me to use the remote and I wasn't aware of the diagnostics option (and I have to admit that I don't know when I'd use it if I did).
Yeah, I probably have almost no use for the memory seats but it bugs me when something isn't working. Basically, the buttons are non-responsive (almost like they're not getting any power). And the backlighting that you get at night on all of the buttons throughout the car is non-existent on the memory buttons. I've found posts on here with similar problems but they're old and it doesn't look like they ever came to a consensus on what was wrong. I appreciate any input anyone has!
Yup, I've tried every combination of button presses I could imagine (including holding the buttons for varying amounts of time). According to the manual, there is supposed to be a beep after pressing the memory button. No beep, no led lights, no backlighting in my case...pretty much no response whatsoever.
checked on the memory on my 06-no beep but they do work-the only light is the green to indicate memory 1 or 2. When I first looked at it no lights were on-I then pushed the memo button-both lights for 1 and 2 started to flash. I then pushed on memory 1.

Whenever you get a chance, can you guys check if these buttons are supposed to have backlighting at night like the rest of the buttons around the dash? I assume they should but have nothing to compare to. I might just try and take apart the door panel this weekend to check for any connections. I'm not aware of the door ever being taken apart but who knows...and maybe something wasn't reconnected.

If I recall correctly, my remote was backwards in that although the instructions indicated that the remote led would blink (or whatever) in a certain way when linked, and another way when unlinked, my remote did the opposite.
I don't think there is a beep when you hit the "memory" button. You need to hit the "memory" button first, then hit either the "1" or "2" button to select the driver profile. It should then beep on the pressing of the 2nd button to confirm the save. I hear the beep even with the radio on, so you shouldn't be able to miss it.
Try saving your regular seating position as 1, and then saving something else drastic as 2 (like moving the seat far back). If your seat is far back, you can either just press the "1" button (if the engine is off), or press and hold the button (if the engine is on). Your seat should move (even if you opened the car without a linked remote).
I'm not sure about the backlighting; I will have to check it later. I know that a couple of things don't have backlighting (like the mirror defrost button). Even if it is supposed to be backlit but isn't, it might just be a burned out bulb (but the system should continue to work). I can't remember ever noticing it at night though (I work at night, and I imagine I'd notice it whenever I look at my left-side mirror, but I might be mistaken).
Also, can you check the back of the remote to make sure it's an 06+ remote? It should have instructions on linking/unlinking the remote. If you just got your car, maybe the previous owner replaced the remote with an 04/05 remote to save money (they should be cheaper without the memory functions). As a side note, driver 2 remotes cost much more than driver 1 remotes, probably because most people use driver 1 remotes (and the demand for driver 2 remotes is rare).
I have checked that I have the new remotes. I have both a driver 1 and driver 2 remote and both have linking/unlinking instructions. I'll try relinking it with the assumption that the LED is backwards to see if that makes a difference. I hadn't thought of that. As far as linking/unlinking, what kind of environment is this done in? Should I just be near the car? Do the doors have to be unlocked already? Should the key be in the ignition but in the OFF state? Or should it be in the ignition and with the ON state? I'm pretty sure I've tried all of these scenarios but haven't seen a Welcome Driver X message.
Ok, so I just ran out to the car to check. It looks like the remote is linked fine. When I unlink it and turn the key to ON, it says Welcome. If I hold the (i) button on the steering wheel, it tells me I can't edit the settings because it doesn't know which driver it is.
When I do link the remote, I still only see a Welcome message when I open the door. Once I turn the key to ON, I see a Welcome Driver 1.
No response still from the memory buttons. No lights flashing, no beeps as if they're not getting power or are just disconnected.

I checked my car, and the buttons are backlit as soon as the parking lights turn on. It's starting to sound like something isn't connected. I would probably take the door panel off to check the connections (it's really easy to do). I think the memory seat assembly has its own harness.
I finally got around to disassembling the door panel tonight. Turns out the connector was just unplugged. The door panel was much easier to disassemble than I thought it would be (even following instructions from a different thread). If it ever helps anyone in the future, it was much easier to start pulling at the door panel from the corner where the side mirror is and not from the bottom like was said in another post. Thanks for all the help guys! Now on to removing the center console to thread an audio cable through...

I am having same issue with 2006 Acura TSX. Returned from dealer/ bodyshop and three button memory seat setting on drivers side door does not illuminate/beep when holding the memory button and Seeting 1 or 2 does not illumite green. I also noticed my auto up/down is not functioning though eveything else is working appropriately.
Sounds like the dealer/bodyshop blew a fuse. When you say the up/down doesn't work, do you mean the power seat? More specifically, do you mean the driver's power seat? There's a fuse that controls that and I think it's linked to the memory seats as well. I don't remember what fuses off the top of my head are linked to this but you should be able to figure it out based on the diagram that's on the back of the cover covering the fuses. There are some on the left hand side of the driver's footwell and another fusebox under the trunk. I believe that the fuse you're looking for is in the footwell though.
Why did you bring your car to the dealer? If they opened the door panel (perhaps to change the regulator), they might not have plugged in all of the harnesses (just like how the OP has a disconnected harness).

Also, when I unlock the door with the remote, the memory seat LED is on for a few seconds after I close the door. I guess that's telling me I'm number one.
More info:
Wifey's #2 key does not show welcome driver 2, so I assume the dealer did not set up key 2 when I bought the car. You need to read and follow the owner's manual carefully to get things set up correctly.
And, the three buttons (memo, 1, and 2) on the vertical door panel light up only when the headlights or parking lights are on.

No, the mirrors don't move by themselves at all (you have to adjust them manually). This was a minor surprise to me when I first bought my car. I assumed that if the car memorized driving positions between two drivers, it would also do the mirrors. I guess Acura still has some work to do.
