'06 Computer Glitches?
I could be asking my dealer this, but I'm not sure if he can answer it so I'll throw it out to you guys. I picked up CGP 06 w/Nav last week...and I've been playing with it...even reading the manual I'm learning that there are some things in the manual that says I should be able to do, but I can't.
The MID (multi-information display) is supposed to recognize me when I use my key fob to unlock the car...and say "Welcome User 1" in the MID. The reason why this is important is because certain features are customizable to each user (i.e. how long the headlights stay on after I turn off the engine, how long the interior lights stay on afterwards, intermittent wipers association with the engine etc....) Well on my car, although the keyfob can unlock the doors and trunk, the MID doesn't seem to recognize it as User 1, so I am not able to get into the customization screen to make these adjustments.
The other thing I noticed is the Navi screen doesn't switch over to night time when my lights are turned on. It just stays bright for daytime driving. I have it set on Auto, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. I am able to manually switch them, but shouldn't Auto do this?
Any advice would be appreciated.

yeah I had the same problem, but i eventually figured it out. You have to set your seat and then save it using the seat memo buttons 1 and 2. After that get your remote key and get in the car and hold down the lock and unlock but at the same time( red light will flash on the key). Then get out of the car lock it and then unlock it and get back in. When you turn on the car, it should say welcome driver 1 or 2

But the Nav is not dimming no matter what I do.

If you have the interior lights turned all the way up (the left rotating switch that sticks out of the gauge area), then the nav will stay in day mode even with the lights on. Just turn it down at least one level.

Why can't Navi "ding" when it's time to make a turn? I kinda like that feature on some navs.
