Angry '06 chrome, and plastic problems?

Just detailed the TSX today, and picked off a bug with my fingernail. The chrome came off with it!!! Right next to th big "A". In case your wondering what is under the chrome, its black. The piece that flaked off is about the size of a pencil eraser, and VERY noticable.

Then, when trying to scrape off another bug by the passenger side driving light, my freakin' thumb nail sliced the plastic pumber like a hot knife through butter!!! Not just a scratch, but a gauge...right into the plastic!! I was NOT using any force on either the bumper OR the chrome. Just a slight scraping. I have done this all the time on my truck, not to mention all my other cars over the years, and NOTHING like this has happened before.

So what gives? Anyone else have this happen, or do I just have FREAKISHLY hard fingernails?

I am going to take this to the dealer next Saturday, and if they don't fix it...along with the exhaust tips, (not level with each other), the center of the steering wheel (not centered with the the stereo and cruise control buttons) and the a-pillers on BOTH sides of the car (wavy interior trim) I'm going to take the hit, give the car back to them, and get my second choice. A Mazdaspeed 6.

This sucks, I LOVE how this car drives, I love how it handles, but these little things are adding up.

Any insight would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Ken

Your car must have been made on a Friday... I've never seen similar problems before. And you must really have hard fingernails or nasty acidic bugs

I scratched a couple bugs off the front bumper and took a bit of paint off, but it wasn't that bad. I found a scratch on the chrome next to the A as well, but again nothing that big. I'd recommend using the special Bug & Tar removal stuff for the front of the car, it's much gentler than just scraping it off, plus it polishes the paint as well.

Clear bras only cover paint, not the grill, correct?

I'll try to get a pic in the morning, but I'v not had much luck posting pics here.

I'm not sure about the clear bra, but I'll look into it Saturday when I go to the dealer.

I'v hit BIRDS in my truck, picked feathers out of the grill for awhile, a bat on my motercycle (that was kindda gross 'cause I found parts of the bat on ME....about 1/2 an hour latter) , got cought behind a salt truck in my old Dodge Shadow on the highway, and NOTHING happened to the paint OR chrome on any one of them. Well... the bat kindda hung around for awhile. Cooked some of him on the engine. Oh man, did THAT smelled good.

I would think that the Acura would be able to withstand a little more than a thumb nail.

I noticed the same exact thing on my passenger side vent. The panel for the airbag is not plush with the vent. I am taking the car in for warranty work tomorrow and I'll let you know what they say.

After taking it in, they said that there's nothing that they can really do about the vent not lining up with the dash panel since the hard plastic housing around the vent provides no "give". Let me know if you get a better answer.

legit bitch on the passenger side vent if you ask me.... no problems like that on the euroAccord.... paint is not the hardest as noticed before on these forums, I have paint chips, but it definatly shouldn't peel off and neither should the chrome... back to the dealer; I'm curious about what they'll tell you...

Ok guys, so far so good. Took it in to the dealer today (just got back) and they seem to think that everything I showed them should be fixed. They took one look at the chrome, ordered another one on the spot! I showed him everyting in the above pics, and he agreed that it SHOULD be fixed!! When the grill comes in, he is going to call me, I'll take the car to him, he will give me a loaner, and fix mine. They are even going to fix the uneven exahust tips, even though I said I was going to do it.

They even served my wife and I Starbucks coffee!! We will see if it all gets done, but from the way he looked over everything, looks like no problems! He does want the Regional Rep to see the fingernail misshap. Even he tried to do it, (after asking me first) and almost did! That surprised him, I can tell you!!

Everybody at Lindsay Acura, managers, sales, and tecs, from the very first time I went there too today, have been the best I have EVER delt with!!

Sounds like you have an awsome dealership. That's rare, consider yourself very lucky.
