05 TSX Starting Problems
Ok so here are the symptoms...let me know if you think its the starter or maybe some other problem.
When I get in the car and turn the key I can hear the starter motor engage the engine but the engine will not turn over. Everything sounds normal except the engine will not start. I turn the key back, wait a few seconds and try starting it again. This time it starts right up! This started happening in very isolated cases a few months ago and has slowly become more frequent.
It's almost as if the spark plugs are not firing or the fuel injectors are not injecting.
Has anyone had a similiar experience? Does this sound like the starter motor going? There is no whining sounds of anytype when trying to start.

Thanks for your input

Oliver!!!
I'm familiar with the issue. One of my coworkers lives in the same neighborhood as I do so we try to carpool as often as possible. His Escort does it, but only when the engine's cold. He'll turn the key and everything sounds normal. It just won't start. But when he turns the key off and hits the starter again it fires right up. Both of us have looked it over, a mechanic, and my Dad (who's an ASE certified master tech/instructor) and we can't find anything wrong. It doesn't seem to effect the car at all, it's just a minor annoyance so we don't worry about it.

the battery may be going, the acura's are known for weak batteries. I just had to have mine replaced yesterday when my 05 was in for an oil change the battery tested bad.

I would suspect it was the battery if when I turned the key it struggled to crank the engine but it doesn't. It sounds as strong as it ever did. Normally if the battery is weak you will definitively be able to hear the starter motor struggling to crank the engine.
Thanks for the replies!

In a Ford, it's sometimes due to the ignition switch starting to go out. My mom's old Taurus did it, and so did another friend's Taurus. My dad figured out that if he wiggled the switch while holding it in "start" mode and not forcing it all the way to max (turning it until the starter activates, but not hold it all the way on the stop), the car would start properly on the first crank. Sometimes the turn signals wouldn't function and all my dad would do is jiggle the ignition switch and the turn signals would function! lol
As for the TSX...no clue. Maybe it's a similar issue but I don't know.
