05 Automatic TSX Tranny noises...a smacking noise!

My 2005 TSX is brand new, it has 600 miles on it so far and I bought it nearly 3 weeks ago. Anyways, I noticed this problem since day 1 when I took the car home but not sure if its probably just the charactersitic of automatic transmissions.

I come from a honda civic manual tranny.

So anyways, I noticed that everytime I shift from Drive to Park, the tranny will make this mediumly loud "SMACK" or "CLICK"....its pretty noticeable...and I was thinking, my mom's 00 Camry doesn't do it and its got 78K miles on hers!

I also notice this sometimes from Park back to Drive...

and yes, this IS with the car NOT moving....i'm not an idiot...

just want to ask if ANYONE with a 5AT TSX experienced this problem? or if it "IS" a problem...

thanks..

This like every honda at and acura at. It is the parking brake resetting itself. or testing.

I have this sound all the time on my families odyessy, and my tsx makes it only on a slight incline or decline when in park to drive and vice versa.

I get that noise, but not when I put it in park. My driveway is on a hill and put it in neutral and coast down every day on the way out. When I get to the bottom of the driveway I usually stop and put it in gear, but If I am not at a full stop I get a huge clunk going from nuetral to drive. Even if I am barely rolling at all. I don't get it going from putting it in park.

Maybe you guys are still rolling when you put it in park?

a single click or smack sound when shift between P, R, D are normal, Honda AT is a different design then most other makers.

I have a 04 at and it does the same thing. When I go from D to R I hear that smack or crack sound. Then I go to park. I think its normal. The car is still smooth when driving.

My car makes absolutely no noise when switching through any gears P R N D D3 or M, windows open, or closed. Its an 05 AT 10K miles build number 16000. However It does leak water!!!

Mine make the clack/smack noise too, and it only has 160 miles on it. Probably just an annoying design quirk, since everyones seems to do it.

yes it is the parking break resetting. when you go from reverse or neutral to park or drive it resets itself, when u drive alot then go into reverse it does it louder...

IMO it is normal and dont worry....
