I have milano red '04 tsx (since Nov. '03) and the paint has already faded in spots to a pink hue on hood, trunk, and a spot on the roof. I live in the seattle area and wouldn't expect loads of UV. sits in the garage during nights. Waxing was skipped some years.

Anyone else have paint fading already?

 

Your experience with red is not unique. Unfortunately, I have read on these forums that the red TSX has the worst record for paint fading and discoloration.

 

I have the same problem with this 06 San Milano Red. her in charlotte

I took it to the dealer and they talked to acura and they are willing repaint it. the cost is 2500 and acura will pay half. I havent spoken to the dealer but this seems like a defect so I dont see why i have to pay any of it at all

 

Happy to say-no problems with my Milano red 06 tsx. I do wash and use quick detailer. I also do a complete wax job once a year. My car is garage kept when at home but when I visit my mom in NJ it stays outside. I live on the coast of NC. It does have lots of chips (no rust) on the hood thanks to driving on the highways

 

I have the same problem my driver side is all most all pink now but my pass side still looks good.

 

Looks like acura is going to anti up a bit more. so I am going to get it painted 800. not bad

Red is a weaker pigment in the spectrum because it is more susceptible to degradation from both visible and infrared radiation.

A clear coat over the red paint helps, but I think the Milano Red is flat.

Good to see Acura stepping up for the repaint.

Regular waxing helps a lot.

I wonder if any of those advertised paint sealants (eg Perma Plate) would prevent the fading better than regular waxing?

 

I have a Milano 06. My car gets waxed 4 times a year and lives in a garage. I noticed that the trunk is starting to turn pink. I will stop by the dealer and talk to them about it.
