04 tsx issue problem - i doubt you guys seen anything like this please help
so i do always work on my cars and i had a 2nd gen CL that i recently sold but my uncle called me last week if i could take a look whats wrong with his AC... so i ran through electrics because AC didnt even start at all and everything was good and i checked that there is completely no freon in the system so i tried to track it down to find a leak and what i found made me go like WTF... i have worked on quite few cars but i never seen or heard anything like this
it looks like the housing craped out not sure how or why but it def needs to be taken care...
my question is if i replace these parts i'll be good
Parts:
- Compressor - 38810-RBB-A01
- Clutch Set - 38900-RBB-006
- Coil Set, Solenoid - 38924-RBA-006
- S-Belt - 38920-RBB-E02
- Filter, Sub-Assy - 80101-SEA-003
or i still should replace the condenser and dryer/ reciever too ? i dont have part numbers for those two...

The clutch shearing off I've personally experienced, but the compressor housing cracking is new to me. If you're working on replacing those AC parts, might as well change the condenser and dryer. acuraoemparts.com, who is also a vendor for us, can get you the part numbers. Also an additional discount since you're a forum member.

Delray Acura will give an additional 5% discount when you type in ACURAZINE in their comment section. Or perhaps call them. They're in Florida.

I've read of scroll compressors failing like this.
I had a scroll on a Subaru Forester fail when the rotor hub cracked. It stopped like a heart-attack and belt smoked, overheated, and broke immediately. I disassembled to see if lots of metal was generated. Thankfully, no in my case. You could take the receiver/drier apart (grind apart) to see if any debris inside.
If yes, then a new condensor and hoses flushes is necessary. Some replace evaporator, but that is a big job. No easy call here.
good luck

Thanks for the input but what i think it may be a chance to save old condenser... once it breaks it leaks the freon and low presure switch should stop system imediately... other thing is that if there was a presure before it broke it was higher than atmosphere presure so all the pieces shouldnt go inside but ouside but thats just my speculation... i think u guys are right and its better to change the condenser too
