Two weeks ago the compressor wouldn't consistently engage in my wife's 04 TSX. I suspected that it needed a recharge on the R134 refrigerant, but I hadn't addressed it yet.

Now, the blower motor has completely stopped blowing, regardless of setting on the navi screen.

Looks like that is usually the transistor, so I will change that anyway. Looks to be number 6 on this page.

What worries me is the intermittent compressor issue. The only place I can think of that would cause both these problems is the control panel, and that is a $2200 part. Is there any place that would cause both of these issues, other than the climate control panel? Thanks in advance.

There is currently an active post by bulterier that describes problem associated w/ faulty AC relay contacts. Faulty AC relay can cause same problem.

Also excess compressor clutch gap will cause intermittent clutch engagement or complete lack of engagement. Clutch gap must be adjusted by removing a shim from beneath clutch plate (compressor must be accessed but not necessarily discharged).
