TSX Accident...no 56k
I got into an accident with my '05 TSX a couple of days ago...
Got off after a long shift at work...fell asleep at the wheel and ended up rear ending a parked Mercury Mountaineer on my street... That car ended up having 4,900 in damages.
They are going to do estimates on my vehicle today...do you guys think its totalled?
here are the pics.

I'm glad your ok (assuming since you posted this) but as for damages, it takes a lot of damage to total a TSX due to value of the car. As for frame damage, these cars are unibodies, so there is no such thing a frame damage, they just take the piece off the car and put on a new one however, it will say frame damage in a car fax. This is what i was told by the shop who fixed my car. It could bend your chasis, which is doesn't look like it did but good luck!

it doesnt actually take that much to total a car....if the bags alone deploy....that an easy 4 grand right there.....assuming that you did damage to the motor also, wow....glad to hear you didnt get seriously hurt.....the estimate is gonna be high....remember, alot of shop now dont fix, just replace....saves time and money for them....

sorry to say it but yes that is most likely going to be totalled.. you hit the passenger side = all the pulleys etc.... + both ur airbags deployed... =/
you can look around and see my wreck was the other side.. and not totaled but quoted at 8,600 to fix... get an 06+ this time! =) glad to hear your ok.

I learned this after a long process when my 99 Civic Si was totaled after a guy in a Madza truck ran a red light and the Civic ended underneath the truck
and to the OP, hope your OK, you can always get a new car, a new life isn't that easy and this is why we pay insurance for.

sorry about your accident but glad to know you are o.k. did you have a passenger since that airbag went off. if that is the damage to your car when you were going less that 35 MPH I would hate to see what the car would look like if you were going faster. My daughter's 04 hyundai accent had way less damage when she hit another car that made an illegal left turn in front of her when she was driving to work. she was going 50-55 MPH. the front of her car was damaged but it was not totaled. i hope you learned a hard lesson-tired-do not drive-sleep in the parking lot if you have to-next time you might not be so lucky

I did not have a passenger at the time...should the airbag not have gone off?
as far as pulling over...i was about 35 seconds away from my driveway...bad mistake i know, but i honestly thought i was going to make it....
I guess its true what they say about majority of all accidents occuring only miles from your home...in my case it was about 100 yards

i personally dont think its totalled... im an insurance ajduster, and i write estimates all day. a total is dependant on many things... model year. mileage, condition of the car, i.e paint, exterior and interior trim. as well as the overall condition of the body and a few others to start... but anyway, most well equipped body shops have frame machines which can pull a bent frame rail to within a hundreth of a millimeter to stock (this is also dependant if they have the workers competant enough to do so) . so if there is frame damage that does not necessarily connotate a total loss. the same goes for airbags. granted they are expensive but if they are deployed it does not automatically mean the car is totalled. generally speaking a total loss for a car 7 years old or newer means that the damage has to meet or exceed 75% of the cars actual cash value. but dont go by the KBB, its wrong. the closest thing would be the NADA book but we as adjusters get that number from a lot of factors that are combined and calculated. with that said, other aspects include what insurance company you have and what labor rates they pay. using the program that i use to write estimates for my job and writing a VERY LIBERAL estimate i came around the 12 thousand mark which according my program is about 52% of the cars actual cash value. so on my end if i wrote the car it would not be a total. here in NY the damage would have to exceed, according to my program and labor rates, $17,074.50. however things are different everywhere and the adjuster who writes your car could come up with something different, DO NOT USE MY NUMBERS AS AN ACTUAL ESTIMATE !! i simply wrote what i could see in pictures. but all in all i hope i could be of some help and if you have any questions ill do what i can to be of assistance... also and i know this wears off quickly but its good that noone got seriously hurt and things could have been a lot worse. but keep us posted and best of luck

Its totalled!.. I had a Matrix XRS and got into an accident and they totalled it. I had frame damage in the rear that totalled $12,000+ and the car was worth $18,000+ with 11,000miles fully loaded. I heard with foreign cars, the metal tends to bend back after frame work?.. So you might have problems in the long run.. plus the resale value will be almost nothing! You should hope they total it.

Hey Guys,
Finally got all my estimates done...Total Loss.
The car had over $15,000 in damages. Insurance just issued me a check for $25,600. Which is what they thought the value of a 2005 tsx was....I guess TSX's really hold their value!
