Inside the Realtime TSX!

So two weeks ago I won a pair of VIP passes to the Steelback Grand Prix (CART racing) here in Toronto through some promotion that came to work. So I jumped on it - i mean paid day off work, VIP passes with breakfast/lunch/3 alcoholic beverages why the heck not??

So the day started out great, VIP treatment was amazing, seats were great, was able to get some awesome action shots (if you wanna see check the photog section in ramblings i'll post them up sometime this weekend), but then after the qualifying we were just walking around and I came upon the Realtime racing truck parked inside, with noone around (and no cars around unfortunately) I snapped a picture of the truck and went on my way. Just as I was leaving one of the crew guys comes out of the and we start talking for a bit. He tells me that if i come back in an hour or so maybe he can swing me an autograph or something, seeing as I have a TSX and all.

So I'm thinkin that's a pretty sweet deal, we go for a walk grab a beer at a beer garden, let them finish their practice and then after a bit we head back to their paddock. I meet the crew guy and we talk for a bit, and then he introduces me to some guy standing on the side, who happens to be the owner. To make what could be an even longer story a bit shorter, I got autographs from all the drivers, a hat, and a seat behind the wheel of one of their TSXs while it was up on stands.

I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking... I posted up the best ones cuz i took a hell of a lot being around those cars made me a bit more trigger happy than usual...

Special Thanks goes out to Terry, Little Pete, and Peter (owner) - and the other guys who's names I don't remember for the experience!!

The intake was that big black c/f box you can see in the pic with the hood open... that's where the filter is... you can see the pipe opening down in the lower grill...

also both of the 'fog light holes' are functioning brake ducts... i'm sure everyone expected that but it's still cool to actually see...

That's awesome! It'd be really cool to see those cars in person and meet everyone.

Very nice picture. Did you take those pix today? I went to Woodbine beach this afternoon and wonder why LakeShore was closed... I guess this is the reason...

I met all the guys a few years back at Mid-Ohio, when Eric Curran still raced for them. Eric and I talked a long time, really cool guy. Kleinubing won the race and was just walking around after post-inspection. If you guys get a chance, go down and meet them. Realtime loves it.

Kudos on sitting in the car!!

Those are some cool pics. I wonder why there are three different reservoirs by the pedals?

For changing pedal resistance to suit the driver, I believe.

1 for clutch

Easier to control braking bias that way and it keeps all the fluids cooler by being inside the car.

Possibly, but the inside of those cars are roasting with nothing other than air fed through a roof vent or suchlike.
Plus it's more awkward to work on down there than along the bulkhead/firewall - if you're going to the trouble of moving them in the first place.

Yeah I wish I could've driven it, but sitting inside was enough... apparently I looked like a kid in a candy store when he put the steering wheel on for me... wish I had a picture of that moment...

Pics were from Friday afternoon...

I keep walking out to my car hoping it has magically transformed into the Realtime orange/white colour scheme but no dice...

I can't think of many things that would make me wanna give up my Navi, but that's definitely one of them...
