Default Tein SS Drop

I installed my Tein SS kit over this past weekend. I left it at the default drop according to the tein install manual. I will leave it as is until my volks finally arrive, then I'll decide if the drop needs to be adjusted or not.

The volks are 18" with 235/40-18 tires, so the wheel/tire diameter will be nearly identical to the stockies in the pics. I like the looks of the drop now, so if there is no rubbing with the lower offset (+47), then I'll probably leave it at the default drop.

Anyway, I figured I'd post a few crappy pics in case someone wants to see how low the default drop is.

Looks a TON better!!! Nice job!!

Take those damn splash guards off though b/c they do more damage than good. They won't look good either when you have the volks on.

Thanks. I put those splash guards on because all kinds of crap was kicking up from both the front and rear tires. I don't like the OEM body kit and am not sure I'll like any body kit if it makes the car even lower where I have to constantly worry about grinding off the ground. I guess I don't know what to do.

nice drop!! and that Milano Red is gorgeous (I have the same color but with parchment interior)

We have a very similar upgrade path!! I will be receiving my Tein SS and my Buddy Club P1 18 x 7.5 (bronze) on monday

A great alternative to the OEM body kit is the Euro R kit (which I am getting)
I dont know though.. the Milano Red is an elegant, classy color.. maybe the kit will be too sporty for your taste

I would suggest some tint, it will make your car look even better!

Thanks, I love milano red too. I had to go out of state and drive 5 hrs to dealer to get this car because that was the only place I could find that had the exact configuration I wanted.

The euro r kit in those pics does look nice. Nothing against the OEM kit, I just don't like it. I saw some mugen kit pics on the white tsx with gold rims and that looks really good too. I'm just not sure if I want a kit in general because the drop I have is low enough to cause ground clearance issues now and it'll probably only get worse with a kit.

I guess I'll revisit this issue again once my wheels come in. I have a feeling I will be able to live with the splash guards since I think AlterZgo's car looks hot despite the fact he has them too.

My mod plan after the Tein SS and Ingalls rear camber kit is the Comptech RSB and ES poly bushings (both of which have been sitting on my living room floor for about 2 weeks now). I think I also want the Comptech short shifter. I'm probably done after that until the sound system becomes annoying enough to do something about. I'd love to replace the factory speakers and amp and do some sound deadening, but that's the last in the order of importance as of now.

I was reading a thread recently where someone here did that. I'll definitely consider it if I end up keeping them. I just hope I can find a paint shop that can paint them in a manner where the paint doesn't fall off in the first month.

Tint used to be illegal here in PA. I'm not sure if it still is. I had tint on my TransAm when I was 18 (I'm 34 now) and kept getting pulled over by state troopers until I finally removed it. I can't remember what % it was but it was only on the side windows (louvers on the back, phew ) and was dark enough to get the cops attention all the time.

I do like the way cars look with the windows blackened but it does make it harder to see out too (unless tint has changed since the last time I had it), especially at night. I'd like to find out if it's still illegal in PA now or if there is an acceptable % that won't have the cops on my ass every week.

Very nice... Man your car would look hella awesome w/ them volks. I have similar setup w/ my Teins and volks. No rubbing and looks awesome, I'm sure you'll love the outcome w/ all your upgrades together. But yea you have to lose the mudguards though imo.

According to Tein, the default is (F)2.0in/(R)1.6in for both Basic and SS.

I forgot to measure before we installed so I can't verify those numbers for sure.

18x8 GTC's in spark silver. They don't seem to be the most popular Volk but I think I'll really like them. If not, I'll just pretend to like them until I can order something else.

Somehow your brake rotors appear to be really clean and flawless compared to mind. There are brown stuff on the periphery of my rotors. I thought they were rust. I dont see this problems in my friend's Mazda 3 or even BMWs. They make the car look bad.

Well, the car has about 2500 miles on it, so maybe it's just because they are somewhat new. Winter is here and the cold weather is finally coming (I can't believe I was wearing a t-shirt outside in november all of last week), so I imagine the snow and other crap that will be on the roads will "fix" that clean look they have now.

If your putting a body kit, take off the splash guards right away. I just recently put the OEM kit on my car and I had splash gaurds. The Splash gaurds messed up the paint and I now I have lines outlining where the splash guards used to be. I just got some touch up paint so hopefully it won't be too noticible anymore.

My car has about 3200 miles on it (I was off with the 2500 I mentioned above). I think I put the splash guards on at about 1000 or 1500 miles. I took them off last week and there is no damage yet. I guess I got lucky.
