Coverage from GT Live/ Grand American race VIR Oct.6-8

Went to VIR this past weekend and had a blast watching a lot of Acura's run around the track. I didn't stay to see the results of the race but i'm sure it'll be posted on the web this week.

I took a few pictures...check them out!

I didn't get a chance to ask the team about that gold heat wrap. I've been trying to find out who makes it. That team was from Canada.

The only other group of people I've seen rocking that are the VW guys. Every other one of them has it.

I have some pics from the i-moto 188 car from when I helped them out at the miller motorsports park race. We covered everything heat sensitive under the hood in that gold tape like the intake, and remote shock reservoirs. Rodger foo said that stuff was like $100 a foot. I'll post pics later when I have access to my home machine.

$100 a foot!!!...sounds like a lot. Ever since I seen that gold wrap under the hood of that white tsx i'm been obsessed with it...definitely my next mod for the supercharger intake. I need to get my hands on about 3 feet of that wrap.

Didn't i-moto come in 3rd overall at the millermotorsports race about a month ago?

$100 per foot, that's freaking crazy ... that stuff better get you from zero to sixty in -2.4 seconds!

Yep i-moto came in third at millermotorsports check out www.i-motoracing.com the pic on the front page is from the start finish line just a minute after the race was finished. I'm the tall one on the left. And yea I'd have a bit of trouble justifying buying that gold wrap for a street car.

Dangit, and I thought I was special. Every other person I've seen with a TSX in Charlotte has been a middle aged lady. Except for a girl at work who got a CGP TSX (auto) about 2 weeks after I did.

I didn't go, I was just curious if it was an Acurazine thing. Did you just go for the day or for a couple? Also, my plain jane stock TSX would seem out of place with that group of cars.

So are you a member of their crew team? That's pretty cool if so...I was watching them do a driver change and fuel during one of their pits.

Do you happen to know what company manufactures that gold wrap or where I can find some?

it never ends with you, ACCURATEin! keep pushing the modding envelope because your ride looks as if it belongs next to spoon lineup. no rl ... it hasn't had an impressive showing thus far.

No I'm not a member of the crew team, well at least not permanently. I was just there to help out cause they were short handed for that weekend. I've seen jimmyc post on this board before too, hes the suspension tech for the team, and a great one at that. I was looken through my pics from the weekend and I only have two after we had put the gold wrap on. It was pretty late at night and both pictures look crappy. Anyway I'll put the best one up. I'll see if I can find out the name of the wrap.

I asked Edmun (owner of Opak) to make a TL racecar but he might not of understood what i was talking about haha.

The RL is being prepped for the 25 Hours of Thunderhill endurance race coming up in December. And you're right, something happened to the motor during one of the previous events.

This team was from Marysville, Ohio which is where the TL is assembled. I spoke with one of the team members for a few minutes about the car and its basically just an AEM V2 intake and custom single outlet exhaust. Car is gutted, 18 bbs wheels and hoosier tires. Im not sure about engine internals or ecu tuning. I meant to ask him about the downpipes because the car didnt sound like it had any cats at all. It sounded awesome going around the track.

Thanks for the engine bay picture! I see you guys wrapped the Moton Suspension nitrogen tanks...i suppose those get a little hot under the hood. I like the way the gold looks under the hood...I was thinking it looks like something produced by the National Aeronautical Space Administration...maybe i should check with NASA.

I check modified mag website and found some pictures from the event...the photographers took a lot of pictures so check them out on their website for more.

Heres a few...

This car made its debut at the event..was built from the ground up and there is nothing really G35 about the car. Carbon fiber everywhere, moton suspension, adjustable sway bar from the cockpit, warning lights on the steering wheel, liquid buttom for the driver, engine from M45(4.5liter V8) I spoke with the driver for a few minutes, i forget his name.
