Who here went from DC header to Comptech Header
Anyone on here go from a DC sports header to a Comptech Header?
Ive searched and searched and searched about both headers, but ultimately bought the DC.
From the get-go there was a slight Hiss. I was able to live with it. Now it seems that it is getting worse, meaning louder. I welded the header before i installed it in hopes of reinforcing it. Im not sure if it is cracked because i havent had a chance to get the car on the lift yet. is there anything i can do to tell if its leaking? There is no CEL on BTW.
Bottom line is that im not happy with the header anymore. In the beginning the hiss was acceptable but now that it is louder, it makes the car sound like a hooptie.
Has anyone been in the same situation as me, and changed to the comptech? I know that the comptech is of superior quality, but id like to hear firsthand from some members that have actually swticthed. Im not really looking foward to spending the 6 bills, but whatever. I should of gotten the comptech in the first place.

One of the member pcdawg (Phil) is trying to swap his Comptech back to DC, due to the unforgivable rattle; try to contact him for a swap.
I'm actually in the same situation as you, I have the ver2, served me good for 2yrs but I think it sounds like it will crack pretty soon. I've ordered a stronger double braid flexpipe online and will bring it to fix this/next week. It just more cost efficient and I doubt I will like the poor rattle from Comptech.

I think Comptech does only rattle on 5AT cars.
That said, I've been running a Topspeed header since early November and while the hiss is the same as the DC, it hasn't seemed to get any worse since installing it. It's annoying, but until I have the bank to drop on a Comptech (which I do want to upgrade to) I can live with it. As you say, you should check out your connections and make sure that's not the culprit.
Your other option, and much cheaper than a Comptech header, is to get a new double-braided flexpipe welded in place of the existing DC flex pipe. Several members have done this (JTso, jlukja IIRC) and it fixes all the DC/Topspeed issues. I'm considering going that route myself, as it would be far cheaper than a Comptech unit and would achieve more or less the same results.

I had a Topspeed (DC knock-off) for about six months ; at which time I noticed a progressively louder hiss, then an out right exhaust leak. Good news w/ 2 pc. header is that the lower half can be pulled off easily and checked for leaks around flex pipe. Mine had a leak in the flex pipe and I decided to switch to the CT header and I could not be happier. The CT header is the all around better quality and better perormaing header over the two piece headers out there. However, the CT rattles on A/t's and mine rattles agianst my Cusco Type II when shifting. Search for a recent thread that had a link to an ebay seller that has a flex pipe to fix the cracking problem. I'm going to fix and sell my TS header and continue to enjoy my CT.

I think my flex pipe is shot.
Connection to the engine block is good.
Connection between the two header pieces= fine.
Doesnt appear to be any cracks, but when i give the car gas, the flex pipe moves ALOT
i think there is air rushing out of it. ONly explanation i have at this point
think its time for comptech
