Everyone knows that it takes away the Vtec horsepower dip and adds power where the dip was...but why hasnt anyone gotten into the 14's?? The car feels very much able to accomplish this! Yes..im not the best driver in the world.. but with my technique i should be faster not slower.. i went from 15.2 with header and intake and then to 15.3 with header, intake and reflash!.. and both times ran a 2.3 60'..so my times "should've" been faster with the reflash right?? So im thinking..maybe the reflash wasn't made for accelaration in the 1/4 mile.. Maybe it just makes the car faster at highway speeds or from rolling starts? I just cant understand how i cant beat 15.2 with my reflash with current setup!? My technique is the same..but the numbers are slower now.. and i cant understand it!?? And Fuck DC Sports!! Yes the Header made power but its made of sh!t!! Sorry..had to put that out there..

When you shift near redline, what RPM does it drop you down to? If you're stock and you fall below the VTEC crossover, you should suffer in comparison with something that has a lowered VTEC point. That is good info., if it's true that the reflash doesn't help with your drag race times.... I guess those 6 gears are good for sumthin'.
Although, it could be something unrelated, like it being 10 degrees warmer on your 15.3 day....

We'll actually..it was about 5 degrees cooler..lol something around 80 degrees.. I usually shift at 7600rpms.. or 7500rpms.. and i land alil after 5500rpms.. which keeps me in Vtec.. Car always pulls on everyshift.. no delay.. but i just dont make the numbers..Originally Posted by vidgamer

Where is the stock VTEC point? Near 5500?
The biggest gains for the reflash are below the stock VTEC crossover point, but I thought it should help the other range too....
About the clutch, I wonder what other maintenance issues it could be? Oil change? Since the car is new, I haven't even checked the manual to see if we need valve adjustments....

Same technique with an altered torque curve doesn't necesarily mean times will be better. With hondata and an intake you gain large amount of torque between 2-3k rpms. Are you noticing more wheelspin on the launch? Maybe moving your launch point down lower could actually help.
Other factors like weather would play a large factor too.

Perhaps a different launch technique to match the change in performance might help. Personally, feathering the clutch without wheelspin seems to work better for me.

I've tried everything from feathering the clutch to dumping..from higher rpms to lower rpms.. the clutch isn't slipping.. but this is me.. but im talking about everyone with Reflash/I/H/E.. no one has hit 14's.. i mean atleast 14.9..but nothing!..why?Originally Posted by JTso

i hit 15.1 w hondata/intake/lighter rims/235's avs es 100's....... and i know for a fact that even with that setup, i might have been able to pull off a 14.9 and that was my first time i went to the drag strip, so a better driver/more practice would get me into the 14s with the setup....... if i got h/e/cat i would be looking for 14.7's all day long, maybe i'm blowing it out of proportion, check out my sig for slips and video as well as a summary

i ran 15.2 with just intake and header (no reflash).. thats why im saying i should definitely be in the 14's...or atleast running faster than 15.2.. my fastest with Reflash/I/H is 15.3 Originally Posted by NightHawk CL9

and my 60 foot was the same..which is 2.3 (with stock tires..) So my times should be faster right?? I hate goin to the track and seeing Tegs, Ludes and stock RSX-s running 14's and i cant! If the run isn't perfect it seems 14's are out of the question! I mean..i do love the way the car feels..but the numbers aren't adding up!Rep'n Taxbrain.com

Have you been doing your runs on stock wheels and tires?Originally Posted by PrecyseStylez

It seems the increased "peak" hp/torque does little to improve actual performance. Perhaps a more accurate number (or indicator) would be the average gain in hp/tq over the entire rpm range.
Looking at the Hondata dynochart (with header & intake), it seems that there is only ~10-15 ft-lb increase, overall.

This issue has been beaten to death .... but the TSX needs more torque!!!!

well..i dont know where you got those numbers from?.. maybe from peak numbers?..but @6000 rpms i gained 30whp and 28wtq over stock... and this was on DynoJet.Originally Posted by TinkyWinky

I think a more relevant question would be, "If you got the same hp/tq increase in another similarly weighing auto, would you be able to break 15 seconds?"
In all honesty, Probably not.
Somehow, it seems that the TSX weighs just enough to minimize the real performance benefits of a reflash, whereas lighter cars like the RSX, civic etc are seeing vast improvements.
I hate to admit this, but maybe VW/Audi were correct in offering a 2.0T engine that can be reflashed to yield significant power/performance gains.
