Turbo Talk

I figured id start a new thread for talks about turbo, seeing how were really side tracking the topic of the hondata releasing kpro thread. So what kind of turbos and kits do you guys have in mind once we get kpro? what kind of numbers are people going to be hoping to hit?

As I'm sure you've seen, I am already working on a high end kit for the TSX.. In street trim, I'll be happy with 350-400hp while maintaining the luxurious feel that the TSX is known for, without having to hack up a nice car to make things fit..

Looking very forward to more on this project, I'd love it if something like this were produced and purchasable. For a high-end kit, I think you'd have users on here clamoring for it... personally, 350-ish whp is all I'd want in my daily driver, anything more in a FWD car would probably be unwieldly. It's all in the tuning.

since the k-pro is supposedly workable for AT's as well, how much power do you think an AT can put down turbocharged? just curious. i'm assuming there's going to be a notable difference between the 2 trannies.

I would gather that over 300 WHP would be excessive in a FWD car as pointed out by Dayta and the CT S/C. I believe with he is close to 300 WHP and has already come out and stated that he is experiencing torque steer and feels that 300+ whp may be excessive...

Personally, I think 350whp would be waaaay too much for a FWD daily driver, especially with an open diff. I'm at 275-280whp, and that can already be a handful at times.

I'd say ~300whp is our sweet spot .

You're right - not only 300whp, but I think torque would be much more use to us, which is where a turbo will shine in comparison with a supercharger. 300whp 250wtq or so would be amazing.

Agreed and agreed. If we could hit 240-250wtq and maintain it over a large powerband, our cars would be near perfect.

I was looking at the KManager software and the "boost control" feature may help control the amount of boost output base on rpm or gear in use. If it works well, then it should address the high HP FWD concerns.

my friend who has an rsx is pushing 300whp and 200plus in torque. ive driven his car and the steering is managable, the only reason i think we should have aroun 325 -350 to the wheels is bc the tsx weighs more and there is more car to pull...

I use the gear based boost control in my k24a2 turbo Integra, it works well.
