The Comptech Icebox has an optional attachment that goes where the resonator is.

It has a snorkel system that is right inside the bumper, where it draws colder air from. Whereas the stock airbox has this same thing, the snorkel on it is connected to a resonator box which runs another tube back up into the engine bay. Thats why when you take the resonator off, you kind of have a ghetto icebox.

K&N CAI or Injen CAI produces better gains than the Icebox. Icebox I believe is a little better for gains lower in the powerband, whereas CAI's gain mid-range to high in the band.

how do you take the resonator off and where is it located? Will it harm anything? What is the benefit- colder air?

Have a look at this thread. Lots of info. And a further search on resonator will provide even more.
