Toda Exhaust Manifold

Toda Exhaust Manifold
I emailed toda to see what, if any, products they had comming down the line. This is their response:
My thinking is that this must be the prototype exhaust manifold that Hondata tested in their TSX article here.
Although $1200 is a lot for headers, it is similarly priced with other toda headers ($1295 for RSX-S, $1550 S2000). You pay for quality, performance, and fitment. In fact, Hondata said that these headers are
I suggest that anyone who is serious about getting these headers contact toda. Hopefully if enough people contact them, they will produce the part. Their email is toda@todaracing.com
Hello,
Thank you for your e-mail and interest in TODA Racing. Some testing of our K20A products in the TSX have been performed. A prototype TSX exhaust manifold exists, but it's unknown at this point if it will go into production. The cost of the exhaust manifold will be near $1,200, and we're not sure if there's a market for a TSX exhaust manifold at that price.
Best regards,

More info on TODA headers
Hello Jason,
Thank you for your e-mail and interest in TODA Racing. There are no plans at this time to develop TSX specific engine parts. Hondata has tested a prototype TODA TSX exhaust manifold with great success. At this time we're still investigating the possibility of putting this exhaust manifold into series production.
If you and your forum members are interested, we can run a small production batch of the TSX exhaust manifold that Hondata used in their testing. We would need a minimum of 10 confirmed buyers, and delivery time would be approximately 3 months as these would be hand built in Japan. The price would be $1,200, plus shipping. Please note that all orders would need to be placed with us directly. As this is a small custom batch, orders cannot be placed through our dealers. We need a minimum of 10 pre-paid orders.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best regards,
Ali R. Jahed

I'd be curious of a comparion between DC / Comptech / Toda.
Haven't heard any complaints about the Comptech (except for price). Would the Toda's really be that much better?

I believe Toda/DC had better gains in performance than Comptech?? ![Dunno](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/dunno.gif)
As far as DC goes, didn't members have issues with the quality of the welds? has this been resolved by DC??

well i guess we all have our reasons why we want things.
i want it so i can have some higher performance.
you want it so you can get more points at the show.
well, we still need a kpro or else we'll be seeing CEL all day long.
i'm in if there is a clean solution.

Keep in mind the test pipe won't work with the TSX exhaust system, not to mention the secondary O2 sensor issue.
Quote from Hondata:
Quote from Hondata:
I suspect the test pipe was designed to replace a Japanese catalytic converter, as there was no way a US Catalytic converter would fit.

In fact, it would be a lot easier to expand the mouth of an exhaust pipe to seal with the donut gasket than to make a flat TSX flange.
I think we have about 5 out of the 10 people so far to make this a reality. I spoke with board member, cl7tsx, today and he has some great info about a custom high flow cat application to go along with the Toda headers..we will be pursing this and hopefully will have more information in the coming days/weeks to come. Will be in contact with Hondata/Toda/Random Technologies and will keep all of you informed as to any progress....
wish me luck!

Keep in mind, I've dropped like $3g's just making shift knob prototypes... I can't imagine what a custom header would cost to develop, especially from a company like Toda.

You cannot realistically expect a bargain price for something produced in a limited run. Group buys are great for something that can be had at a volume discount, but this would not be one of those things.
If this happens we will be paying for TODA to take their production line offline, retool everything for the header, run them, then retool for something else. Each retooling process costs TODA money because it is a period when the line is not producing any output.
EDIT: Dammit Dan!

Has anyone looked into hytech (sp?) or SMS? I know they put out some nice headers for the TypeR when I had mine. They were on par with the Today headers as far as power gains but were slightly cheaper. Maybe I'll go try and find some information for them.

on a serious note - so will the toda header fit my comptech exhuast?
doesn't the toda header bypass the cat and bolt up directly to the exhuast??
