Summertime and thinking about my first mods

So i'm considering some mods, and one of the major things is new breaks. Someone on here recommended a brand of breaks and i cant remember the name. Started with an R. Also, i'm probably going to get some new tires this summer as well. COnsidering wheels but don't know if i can afford it.

What should i consider when looking for some tires. I'd like slightly better performance, but mostly, reduced road noise. i could probably keep the stock tires and put them on in the winter time, especially if i bought new wheels as well.

what are some wheels people here consider, it's big on personal preference, but i don't know where to start. and how much should i consider spending on wheels within a reasonable amount? don't want to go too crazy.

Now to add something constructive to the thread.

Don't know much about brakes for this car because it's not something I'd even consider.
Brembo is basically the Rolex of brakes, but I don't know if they make kits for the TSX.

As far as wheels and tires go, you're looking at spending anywhere between $1000 - $2000+, depending on size, brand, material, construction, single/multi-piece, etc.

If you're not dropping the car, I'd stick with 17's.
18's on a car with stock height looks lifted IMO.

RSB is a good place to start for the first mod.

Racingbrake is the rotor name you are looking for....Im also thinking about upgrading my brakes, since my wear sensor is making alot of noise. Looks like a couple of people around here did the Racingbrake rotors UPs upfront/Stoptechs in the rear, and hawk HPS all around. They've gotten great reviews, and are sold by MrHeelToe, a sponsor. I'm most likely going to do that.

I personally haven't looked into new tires yet.

just starting to, figured what better place to start that info from other members. i'm thinking 2k total for tires and wheels is a max. i'd like to keep it lower than that.

this is a good point about the 18s i didnt think about. i thought 18s would help fill in the wheel gap better. but i think you're right. i might eventually lower it, but if i did that, i'd probably be looking at the aspec kit right?

Skip the aspec and go to Tein Basics. Its nearly the same price and you'll get a much better drop. However, taking a guess about your preferences, I'd say the drop is the last thing on the list. (like me) But really, the Apec drop is like 1/2". Kinda pointless.

I went thru these thoughts about 2 months ago when I changed my wheels out. I just got sick of the stock wheels, and the silver polish looks bad on CG cars, whether its the 04/05 or 06 design imo. I wanted new wheels (forget tires) for under 1k, and I found my options were extremely limited. In the end I went with Acura Silverstars, cause they were cheap, OEM fit, and 17s. I actually test-fitted a set of Konig Reason 18"s and found exactly what was said above... it looked like crap without a drop, and I wasn't interested in dropping it, so back to 17s and OEMs it was for me.

A-Spec or Silverstar wheels might satisfy you, and they're OEMd so they're not as gaudy as some Volks and such, but still look good in a more subtle way.

I'm no tire expert, so just refer to the Tire/Wheel forum more than the parts forum. There's good info in there on a couple recommended tires to go with OEM size wheels.

Oh, but my is to get the progress rsb. Its the BEST $120 you can spend on the car from stock form, hands down.

So you've narrowed down your mods to wheels and tires?
For $2000 I would:
- Comptech RSB ($115)
- DC Header ($350)
- Comptech Icebox ($155)
- Hondata Reflash ($600)
- A-spec suspension ($500)
- Avon M550 tires ($450)

Ok, ok, so it totals to just under $2200 but I wouldn't want to subtract anything from the above list.

That would be one nice mod combo.

You can take the header or tires out if you want to cut costs.

No way (on the tires)... if you do nothing else, get new tires. My priority would be tires, hondata, RSB, CIB, suspension, headers.

The Tech M550s that Bond recommended are awesome tires, stick noticeably mcuh than the stockers in dry or wet and have amazing ride comfort over small bumps, and they're noticeably quieter than stock in most circumstances, but are not super quiet on rough surfaces. If noise is really the most important thing to you, consider some grand touring tires and don't get an intake (or headers I think -- not sure on that).
