Talking Spring Break

Hey yall im lookin to do a few mods on my tsx this spring break.. first off ima throw in a Injen CAI. im gettin it for $199, havent seen a better price then that yet. but im not sure what to expect for my other mod, Eibach pro-kit. The guys over at Racing Zone in orlando said that they can get me neuspeed for about $140.. thas pretty cheap. They also have the Eibach, but i forgot the pricing they gave me. I heard Eibach is a better drop for a tsx with 19's on it. um.. can someone help me out on the pricing.. what should i expect for the Eibach?

Also, Z, you need to help me out with some pricings man, i kno you cool with Racing Zone

Eibach and Neuspeed springs are both good products. I would also suggest that you invest in a rear camber kit because 19” rubber is not cheap. The camber kit will get the rear back into alignment to prevent abnormal tire wear. From what I can tell, the front drop on the Neuspeed Sport Springs and Pro Kit does not require a camber kit. The ride quality after lowering is very subjective. IMO a better set of dampers is required to get a near factory ride. But, I am trying to keep the wife happy with all the mods too, so ride quality may not be the biggest factor for your application.

BTW, the Injen and K&N Typhoon are both great CAI. You will be happy with either one.

You can get them at Ultrarev for about $140 shipped. That is two kits and does the rear of the car. IMO, it is a deal.

You can install the Injen CAI youself with some common tools and several hours. There are several theards on installation. I would not pay someone for that install. I know several ppl have also installed the springs. I would have a shop do it, but if you are technically inclined you can do that with the right tools.

Also, do not forget the alignment after you install the springs. That is required so do not skip it if you want your car to track straight and avoid tire wear.

nice deal for the neuspeed...i got jipped jk, glad you got a good deal

i would def go for the drop as it would make ur ride look a hella lot better (saw pix of ur ride and u def need it ). as for the intake i wanted the injen but i'm holding out to see if aem will come out with a intake/w bypass valve

so i guess yes getting ur ride lowered is worth the $$$...if you dont care about having a bypass valve on ur intake then i would get the injen as well

the bypass valve is in case the CAI takes in water. i've encountered some major puddles on my short commute to/from work so this will def be useful for me.

Air Bypass valve for Cold Air Intake Systems totally eliminate the unlikely chance of water ingestion should the filter element become wet from deep puddles, rain, hail. Sleet or snow, or any other submerged in water. The valve installs along the upper portion of the inlet pipe on the same axis as the throttle body centerline. Should a drop in pressure occur within the pipe, the valve shuts down induction at the filter and routes incoming air through the valve¡'s external orifices, elimination any chance of water ingestion.

AEM only makes a short ram system (which doesnt require a bypass) for Acura TSX
and the short ram is not out yet

yeah i know, dont you think AEM will eventually come out with a CAI for the TSX tho? they usually do for late model imports?

"SRS Only Application
AEM spends extensive time developing each air induction system for maximum performance. Whenever possible, we design a Cold Air system that routes the filter outside of the engine compartment to take advantage of cooler ambient air temperatures, and offer a Short Ram system as an economical alternative to our Cold Air system.

However, tuning the inlet pipe is crucial to performance, and certain applications respond to runner lengths that will not allow us to create a true cold air system. In these cases, AEM manufactures a Short Ram system only, as this design creates the most useable power for a given application."

that's what AEM says about the air inductance system for Acura TSX, and ya, i actually gave them a call and it turned out to be true, so i guess SRS is the only way to go if we choose AEM

the largest gain from AEM SRS is 8.4 HP and 6.5 ft-ibs both at 6750 rpm...

could someone please tell me where i can find the dyno test results for Ingen/K&N?i wanna see all of them at the same time and do a comparison for the max gain and at what rpm

thx

interesting considering injen and k&n have CAIs that provide more HP then the AEM SRS.

thanks for the info tho!

thx Bender Unit!

now plz correct me if i read the dyno chart wrong...

for K&N:
tested on 6SP TSX
largest HP gain is 9.7 HP at 4330 rpm
any info for the TQ gain!?

for Ingen:
tested on 5SP TSX
largest HP gain : 11.1 HP
largest TQ gain : 4.7 ft-lb
both at 5220 rpm

for AEM like i said before
tested on 6SP TSX
largest HP gain : 8.4 HP
largest TQ gain : 6.5 ft-lb
both at 6750 rpm

so...is it fair to say Ingen turns out to be the best choice from above? (largest HP gain and at OK rpm range), or there should be other more important factors i should be considering on?!

thanks guys!...

I wouldn't want to start mess'in up your thread but you might have to consider the location, ambient temp, and altitude of the place where these cars are dyno'd. Also, you have to see if the car has broken in yet.
To my eyes I feel like Injen provides the biggest gains since it got the highest number on an automatic tranny.
