Nice provision for the oem heat shield. It can easily pass visual emissions inspection.

This unit looks like "the CATS ass!!" I had the DC header installed today but I did not go with the custom metal cat that I was planning to have built...once I saw this one I've changed my mind.
When are there units ready for shipping??

A resonated test pipe is a standard resonator with an exhaust flange on each end.

Marcus this is for you You beat me by a few days on releasing your cat and yours has the tabs for the stock heat shield. No, in all honesty, good job. It looks well manufactured.

Hey, by the way, so we have an official statement on this. I spoke to Darron Shubin again this weekend. I've seen this guy 3 times in the past couple months between SEMA, PRI, and now another convention; he's getting tired of seeing me. But this time we had a very interesting conversation. Darron is the Sales Manager for Magnaflow. After I spoke with him at PRI again and told him about our tirade he went back and spoke to some of the engineers. Apparently they had some internal confusion between the engineers and sales. So here is the reason for the discrepancy between our info.

The Magnaflow cat is in fact a 300 cell cat. However, some of the engineers decided to mix in a batch of 200 cell cats as a 300 cell product. So there is a batch of 200 cell cats out there but no one ever told sales so that is probably why you have a 200 cell. Their cats are NOT 200 cell though; they are 300 and any cat purchased now will be 300 cell. Now, another turn to the story, you will be able to purchase 200 cell cats. They currently have 400 and 300 cell configurations but they are working on a 200 cell cat. Why? Just b/c they can claim them have a 200 cell cat. I asked him and he said at most it will only result in maybe 1 HP difference over the 300 cell cat.

Anyways, time to go home and give my brain and body some much needed rest. I have to install IMG's, CT header and RT cat tomorrow on a customer's TSX and then get ready for software training at APR in Alabama.

Looks really nice but why this over a high flow cat? Is the difference really worth it?

From reading other peoples reviews on this forum of the Random cat, i garner that it makes a noticeable difference. Cat and Header make the most difference apparently.

For an 04 or 05 it should make the most difference due to a revised, slightly more free flowing OEM exhaust system on the 06+.

Well, this was posted an endless amount of times but OEM 04-05 cat has 900 cells per square inch, 06+ has 400 cells per square inch, hi-flow cat has 200/300 cells.

^ Precisely. I got RT cat(200 cells) and header installed on my 05 TSX and the difference is vast. Throttle response is much quicker, midrange tq and top end power are a lot better. High cams are more efficient now. I am still wondering how it was possible to gain so much from exhaust components rather than motor itself.I kept stock cat-back system to keep the noise down and final exhaust note is pretty sweet.

once a few of these get installed, i'm wondering how the sound will be. I guess i'm not clear on the difference between a resonated test pipe, and a high flow cat. What's inside the metal tubing to quiet the exaust sound?

Also does anyone forsee rattling to be a problem with setup? Most of us have noticed significant movement in the exaust system, especially after after-market headers were installed.

The resonated one is just a test pipe with a small muffler in it. There isn't anything in the exhaust flow, just something to absorb some sound.

Rattling? I don't see how...people have had sounds with headers, not with cat pipes.

i'm waiting to hear back on the sound of the resonated test pipe. No CEL, no exhaust restriction, and lots free flow. haha

So let me get this straight: a resonated test pipe is the best of both worlds...? Sound of a high flow cat and the flow of a test pipe?

Would this mean stinky smells coming out of the rear of my tsx? :[

Ummm u do know that deleting cat is really bad for the environment? Not that I am a tree huger myself, but just saying. Yes, the smell will be there. The difference in restriction between a hi-flow cat and TP makes 1HP for the TP. The price sure is on TP's side here tho.

Decision is yours.....

Haha, dude, this is unbelievable.

Funny thing is, worst case the FLP cat is comparable in power to RT, but still built better.

Out of all this it really seems to me Magnaflow gets some egg on the face.

Its all part of the assembly...why you wanna put them on another pipe. Lol, you'd need to start from scratch on that.
