Shift knob

Hi, Has anyone changed their shift knob yet? I'm getting a DC5 shift knob for my TSX. I know that for the RSX. You'll need a shift boot adapter. How about TSXs? Any problems? And could someone please briefly let me know how??
Thanks a lot!!!!

You should be able to just screw it on like the stock knob. To get the old one off you have to use a wrench to back off the locknut before unscrewing the knob but that's the only trick.

It's not my shift knob.......it's Jates(another member on this forum). I don't think he used a shift boot adapter.

I would think that the titianium would make the shift a little less smooth because it weighs so much less. Did you experience this?

I have a question. I know that the DC5 shift knob comes with 2 nuts. Do I need those nuts to install onto the TSX? THanks a lot!!

Is this the knob you're getting? If so, then you can re-use the locking nut from your TSX knob, or use the flange nut that comes with the knob. But you don't need the shift boot adapter that comes with the knob though. That is just for the RSX only.

BTW, that knob in the pic is pretty much the same as the ITR knob except that the ITR knob has the 5-speed H pattern instead. I have the ITR knob in my Prelude, and I've tried putting it in my TSX and no problem at all.

Personally I think the 6MT stock shift knob looks much better than all the after market ones posted on this tread. (I cant remember what the 5at knob looks like)

I agree with fdl. The stocker is cool. It's out of the S2000 (2002 & 2003 models). It has the cool look of an aluminum knob with the soft feel of leather.

I thought the shift knob on the S2000 is all aluminum from 2000 to 2002 models. Then starting 2003 model, Honda changed the knob to be the same as the one on the TSX now.

Anyway, I agree with both fdl and kurt. The stock TSX knob (aluminum with leather) and the all aluminum knob found on earlier S2000 are very good.
