Pulley Options

I want to get a lightweight crank pulley for my car. I am not interested in an underdrive set-up. Has anyone used a lightweight crank pulley besides the UR or NST kits? HeelToe offers a lightweight crank pulley from Alutec that looks interesting. My car is stock except for a drop in K&N and removal of intake plumbing in front of the airbox.

Just go for the HeelToe group buy on the Unorthadox Racing set. It's a VERY good quality set, the underdrive is NOT harmful to the car, and the alternator will not be underdriven to the point of harming the battery, alternator, or the ECU. It's an inexpensive mod considering the benefit is so great (power throughout, from 1rpm to 7400rpm).

At the price he's selling it at right now a part of the group buy, its almost a no-brainer in my opinion!

Oh, for what its worth, the UR pulleys will show good gains for even a stock car. The benefit it provides is not dependant on other mods being done first.

Here's the HeelToe group buy, which is expiring on March 31: https://acurazine.com/forums/sponsored-sales-group-buys-10/group-buy-unorthodox-racing-3-pulley-set-1g-tsx-heeltoe-group-buy-762704/

Has anyone used this kit from OBX? Is a new belt required for this kit or can the stock belt be used?

In all honesty, I'd stay away from an off brand / lesser-lite when it comes to pulleys. If a pulley wasn't designed and/or manufactured properly, it could ruin your engine. UR has a LONG history of making high quality pulleys and they know what they're doing -- they can be trusted. OBX... well... let's say I wouldn't personally do it if they were free.

Just a heads up: We are working on a stock diameter lightweight crank pulley for the TSX. It should be ready in about 1-2 months.

Will there be a full kit released or just a crank pulley? Also do you have an idea of pricing for that new pulley yet?

I just installed an RSX-S underdrive crank pulley on my TSX last w/end.

Here is everything I know on underdrive pulleys for the TSX: (I'm CalgaryTSX on TSX-Club.com)

Edit: The forum won't allow links posted to TSX-Club.com...

You'll have to go there and look for my thread under " TSX K24 Crankshaft Pulley/Damper Technical Info".

Has anyone installed the Unorthodox pulleys and replaced the alternator as well? I have been thinking about installing the pulleys for years, but I know I will have to replace the alternator. Just curious to see where people were able to find more powerful ones.

The UR pulley group buy needs 2 more people to hit 30! If you are interested in getting a pulley kit, get in on this group buy by the 31st!

You don't need to replace the stock alternator with the new pulleys, plenty of ppl had them for yrs with no issues. Some even ran moderate sound systems with it.

I have my Ralco pulley set for sale for cheap, not 1 single mile driven on them. The UR group buy is good too but like twice the cost of my basically BNIB set.
