Problems with short shifter?

Hello guys, I need the expertise from u people...

I m thinking about installing a comptech short shifter...
but i've herd horror stories about them, that it ruin the syncros????
and easily miss shift...


also is it hard to install?? i m a total newbie to this.. thanks guys..

I just got it installed

Where you heard about it destroy the syncro and that?? I'd like to know too....

i would say all the things you've heard are absolutely wrong. i've never misshifted w/ the SS, it guides the gears very well

messing up your synchos would only happen if you suck at shifting. they might be forcing into gear too hard, its not something the SS could do by itself.

here is an answer i got on another forum... this explains a bit better.... i'll post it just as a
reference..


Just make sure you adjust your timing in how you press the clutch pedal and shift. Because it will take less motion and less time to shift, you want to make sure you don't start shifting too early.

It could be that people who like to tell horror stories about wearing or wrecking their transmissions after installing short shifters or short throw shifters didn't adjust their driving style....

no problems w/ my ss...and I just added metal bushings to my shifter... awsome mod!!
