Performance upgrades with automatic

Basic question - now that the Cat back, CAI, etc are going to be available, would a person with an automatic be able to feel the difference? IE, would it be worth it for me to consider pouring the money into my car, or are the gains best realized only with a manual gear box? The car already feels pretty quick, but if possible it would be nice to give it a little more kick (especially off of stop lights - not drag racing, just feels cool to accelerate like that). Thanks -- Brian

All the upgrades are proportional, so yes they will work with autos.

However, best bet to to see some dynos first before you make any decisions.

A cat-back exhaust system is most likely going to HURT your off-the-line power, not help it. If you want low-end off the line punch (2000-3000rpm), keep your factory exhaust unless a dyno proves otherwise. With this little K24 kicking out 200 horses, I seriously doubt that the exhaust is corked and that a cat-back would really do much, but who knows.

I'll agree with SteVTEC.

I know nothing about how a cat-back exhaust work, but I would wait until dynos are out until you jump into something expensive.

I'm coveting some 18"x8" 15.5 pound SSR Comps and the Pirelli PZero Nero M&S in 235-40-18.

Now if only I had that thing...you know...to get stuff with...oh yeah...money.

I am not looking to race/compete - what I would like to ultimately do is give this car the 240 hp that I think it should have had (V6) in the first place without sacrificing low end torque - more of a long term job.

please dont flame him.
Plenty of people mod, Automatic cars. Why else would they make parts for autos? And we dont know his situation for getting an automatic( traffic, doesnt know how to drive an m/t). I have an auto TSX and a stick Prelude. I love the tsx in this nyc traffic.

I'm in the same boat a Gpump (see my Avatar )

I would have loved to buy the 6 speed as yes its better for performance/modding but we can't all buy sticks. And besides 75% of all TSX's sold are Auto's so should the aftermarket ignore 75% of its customers??

I basically want more power, not for racing just for everday driving. Although I'm not sure its realistic to expect 240HP from the TSX with basic bolt ons. A CAI, Throttle Body and maybe a HondaData may possibly be good for 20HP which may be all the Auto needs. But like its been said, I would'nt do anything without first seeing the dyno's.

Ultra-Light Wheels + Better Rubber = $$$$

Quick response - I grew up on a stick shift, prefer them for more "feeling" when driving as well as more control and more get up and go - however, I drive 30 miles each way to work 5-6 times a week and Dallas traffic (I 35) blows - the auto gets better mileage than the stick, so I could use that to convince my better half too -Anyhow, that's why I got the auto - everyone have a nice weekend; Beat The Hell Outta Tech - A!!!Whoop!!!!

Oh yeah - who said anything about basic bolt ons?? In a few years this thing is gonna have a turbo or SC - need to wait for money and the warranty to run out

i'm not exactly sure but i think if a torque converter would come out we could really use that. i heard people used it on other cars i.e. 300 zx auto with something called torque converter or something like that running 11s. anyhow, its supposed to be programmable to when you can set where it redlines at and have the car handle it also(not cut off fuel). and it also shifts cleaner or faster too. not exactly sure but thats what i heard. its not out yet for our cars. not sure if it is going to be out. but it would be nice to have.
