Optima Battery

Id like to put in a optima red top battery in my 2005 tsx. I know that there is a yellow top 51R but what about the red top ? I have searched but found nothing. Can anyone assist ?

Thanks

I did a quick search and found many threads about Optima batteries. Here's one in particular about the red top.

I don't think people are too crazy about the red top. But take a look for yourself.

Yea, yellow top seems like a smarter choice or you can get another brand of battery. There are many batteries to choose from today that are a lot less expensive than Optima and they will probably last you longer. And they come with really good warranties. You should look into other batteries IMO....

I completely agree with this sentiment. I wouldn't spend the money on an Optima no matter what anyway, but there's too much negative feedback here if I was interested. Save your money and look elsewhere.

I would like a strong battery that can power my car being that I have 10000 k low beam bulbs 8000k high beam bulbs a decent sound system and soon diy spark plugs install. I currently have a duralast yellow top which is ok, I do notice my lights flicker very little though while driving not noticeable unless you really have an eye for detail. What do you guys use ?

I have a Bosch battery. It's really good. 5 year warranty, can't go wrong. And I only paid $80.

The yellow top 51R was discontinued -- too many problems (and I can vouch for that personally).

I replaced my yellow top with a red top, and I haven't had any issues; I think I've had it for over 3 years at this point.

I just installed an Optima 35 in my 06 TSX. You need to remove the tray and surround to fit but nothing else. Even when new the Acura 51R battery cranked slowly on cold days. This Optima replaced the second Acura battery (lasted 3 years each).
