Negative affects of the Comptech RSB

Thinking about purchasing the Comptech rear sway, but wanted to know if there were negative affects to this mod. My car is totally stock as far as suspension and performance (Been able to resist the modding bug....for now at least ) .

I often switch cars with my GF so I don't know if the change from the normal understeer of most cars to oversteer would be too much for her to handle. Would it be worse to drive a car with the Comptech RSB in the snow? Basically I am worried that if she hits the brakes to hard all of a sudden that she may do a 180.

Thanks for the help.

There should be no ill effects. It will not completely cure the understeer, but it will make the car about as neutral as you're likely to get it. And with the VSA on (which you should do when driving on slippery roads), you're not likely to see much tail waggle.

I guess the only negative thing I can think of is the fact that you have to wait a couple days for it to arrive once ordered.

I had a tsx loaner this weekend and think it makes a huge difference. it's worth way more than the 200 bucks and twenty minutes to put it on!!!!!

my gf doesn't even drive the tsx hard enough to feel the effects.

she refuses to use SS and thinks taking the car over 3,000rpm is BAAAD!

It's a great, cheap mod - well worth the $. I've had some noise coming from the rear which may be from the sway bar as others have experienced on here. Still worth it though.

Increased stiffness of the sway bar may increase the likelihood of the end-links failing. Although I don’t think it’s happened to anyone with the Comptech bar yet.

Stop thinking about it and just do it. It's what the TSX needed from the get go but Honda has a history of under sizing the RSB's in their cars. Safety first and all that. It's kinda like taking off the training wheels. Now you can really feel the tires & body flex and get a sense of the car's true handling edge. And all this for a couple of bills???

A definite must do.

You also don't have to drive the tsx hard to feel it's effect. the minute i put it on I could feel the difference just taking normal turns. Great mod for the buck!

That's a good thing though. I wish my gf thought that.
Back when i was shopping for a bmw my gf and i test drove a 540 6 speed. For anyone that knows cars, that thing is fast.
A 300hp V8 with a 6 speed is what that thing had in it. Anyways... the salesperson let us take it out by ourselves. After a while, i asked if she wanted to try. She said its been a while since she drove stick and i said, dont worry about it, just be gentle and everything will be fine. So she gets into the driver seat. I tell her to just give her a tad bit of gas and let the clutch out gently.
What does she do?
Pretty much stomps on the gas, the RPM's shoot up to about 5000rpms, and i yell HEY! STOP!
She was like what? (she didn't even know what she was about to do).
I pulled the parking braked and got out. I could smell a heavy clutch burn because she started to let the clutch out. Luckily she hadn't let it all the way out yet. Or we would've been toast in that little parking lot. Man...
I feel sorry for whoever had to buy that one.

Hell, you can feel it just changing lanes on the highway.

BTW there were no negative effects, except you might scare your passengers when you take corners alot faster than before.

I agree 100%. I could tell the difference the minute I took a turn. On ramps and off ramps at speed never felt so good. You will now be able to feel the front inside wheel "lighten" on turns and the back-end trail with more control and feedback.
