More Products up on Comptech

Headers in stock - 569
Exhaust in stock- 895
Added Brake upgrades (rotors, pads, lines)
Front Strut in stock - 319
Camber adjusters - 90

just a heads up. headers are actually more expensive than i thought they would be. might wait on a release from DC now.

569 is not bad for comptech! I might wait on the spring install until I get the camber adjuster. Might as well have it installed at the same time :P

Anyone have any idea how good the cross-drilled rotors they're advertising are? Or even the brake pads?

Whats the diff between the "Hot Street" pads and "Metal Master" pads?

Someone from comptech has been posting on the "other" TSX site about the new products, etc. Perhaps we can get him over here to answer some of our questions.

"Replacement front upper ball joint
offset for range of +/-1.5*
or anywhere in between.
For cars lowered up to 1.5"
Requires 2 per car. "

So does this mean a car lowered less than 1.5" does not need the cambers?

is it so much to ask for some dynos from comptech?

Actually to be honest comptech has a way of not realeasing dynos for products that don't put out really big gains. Hopefully they put some out for the tsx because i'm not buying anything without em'

For $900 you would expect some HP dont ya think? With that being said I do think you will see some decent gains from a more free flowing exaust since this is a bigger displament 4 banger. Larger displacement engines normally take well to more air comming in and being pumped out.

Why the heck does the camber kit cost more than the springs? I hope the 1" drop doesn't require the camber kit....

Why would you order the front strut brace? The TSX has one from factory doesn't it?

The Comptech one is stiffer (more effective) and lighter. It's REALLY expensive, though...

Hmmm... I'm hoping for a group buy on some of the Comptech parts, especially so many people are interested in buying them.

how could someone seriosuly say that a replacement front strut from comptech would make any noticalbe change???
the factory stuff is pretty high quality, but ithought i read on another post that their new bar weighed 4 pounds or so more than the factory but was stronger. woopee
even if it weighed 2 pounds and was some hightech alloy, is it worth the cash??

I think the front strut bar out of the box is decent enough. Its the rear sway bar that is too small and would make a much better upgrade.

Why not? The factory bar is steel (I think). Titanium is WAY more stiff than steel. (EDIT: I did the math, it's 49.7 times as stiff). It's also lighter (math: 1.74 times lighter per unit volume). I have a hard time believing that the Comptech bar weighs 4 pounds more than the stock one. It's just like when someone noticed a difference in body roll after replacing the stock rear sway witht the Comptech rear sway.

Actually Titanium alloy is not stiffer than steel. It is less brittle and thus less susceptible to damage.

Just ask the guys who bought titanium pistols. You have to be careful with the thing because the barrel size changes.

It's light and won't break, but it's "stretchy".

That was me. I don't know about the shock tower brace weight (if that was the weight you were referring to), but the stock rear sway is 15 mm & 4 lbs and the Comptech is 23 mm & 10 lbs. I measured and weighed both. I have noticed a difference because I put it on and am driving the car. I like the difference and am glad I got it.

Your experience/opinion might be different, but it's hard to notice a difference when you haven't put it on or driven a car with one.

I too was skeptical about buying it because I thought the TSX handling was so good to start with. Now I know there's room for improvement. Without any formal testing we'll have to wait and see what other people think when they put these items on before any conclusions can be made. I think Tinky will be posting his opinion of the sway soon.

There will definately be a difference.

The formula for stiffness gains from a sway bar is:

% increase in stiffness = (new diameter / old diameter)^4.

So going up 8 mm will give you an increase in stifness of 362%! Thats a huge difference. You should def notice alot less body roll.

Now keep in mind that wont neccesarily mean better traction, in fact because the back is so much stiffer than the stock front there will be more tendancy to oversteer. But in a fwd car this isnt such a bad thing. Just be carefull

It seems to me that any extra weight is the equivalent of decreasing your HP. Why do that for a little added stiffness?

I guess I could go on a diet and lose a few pounds.....

Maybe you should read my post again. Its not a little added stiffness, its alot. The only thing "little" is the weight gain. You wont even notice it.

If you are worried about a 6lb difference get rid of ur spare tire and that is more than enought to compensate for the weight gain

I know what you're saying, but, 5 lbs here, 6 lbs there, it all starts to add up doesn't it. I guess it all depends on what you're trying to do. Better handling/looks vs power.

And no AZ, I won't be giving up my spare anytime soon.
