There is no performance difference between a good high flow cat and a test pipe for a mildly modified engine.

Improved throttle response with my cat. Had some resonance inside my car but it went away after a couple days

Get the RT cat, or buy a 2.5" Magnaflow and have a muffler shop weld it in to save money (there was no performance difference between the two for me).

What year is your TSX? Unless you're already heavily modified, it won't make much, if any, of a difference on a 2006-2008 TSX. 04/05 is a different story.

I'd say it doesn't have much of a sound to itself, it may just slightly deepen your existing exhaust note. This cat doesn't change the sound nearly as much as your header and exhaust choice will. infantry, I think it would be a good match for your setup.

BTW, have you noticed any rattles after installing that Comptech header? And a follow up, when did you buy it / install it? Just curious.

I stuck with a highflow cat from magnaflow and its fine 400 cell it made my exhaust loud so my fujitsubo used to be like silent.

I'm running the exact setup that you're looking to get (Comptech I/H/E, RT Cat) on my 06 MT, and I have to say that I really didn't like the sonic change the RT Cat introduced into my exhaust system.

I initially had the Comptech I/H/E combo installed all at once. The sound of this combo was intoxicating. It was very deep and had a great rumble, especially when starting up. About a month later, I added the RT Cat and immediately noticed a change. It wasn't as deep and thick as before - my exhaust sounded more hollow and metallic.

However, this inconvience was quickly forgotten when I pushed on the accelerator. I've said this in past threads, but I think the RT Cat yielded as many performance gains as the Comptech I/H/E combo combined. The car is much more responsive and pulls noticeably harder. And this is coming from an 06 owner - being that you're an 04 owner (with a 900 cell Cat), the difference between stock and RT will be even greater for you.

Bottom line: the RT Cat yields excellent gains (especially with your expected mod list), but at the cost of a slightly undesirable exhaust note change. For me, the cost was well worth it.

You can PM Excelerate for the RT Cat.

I havent had any problems with the comptech header rattling as of yet but Its been about 5 days . I picked it up at a local tuner shop here in washington, they had some one order it but never pick it up, it was sitting there for about 2 years according to them . I paid around 350 for it .

I have the Fujitsubo also and feel the same way. So you went with the highflow, how does it sound? Do you have any sound or vids on it? And how much did you pay?

Nice!!!

DAYTA thanks for your post. As a '06 owner I was wondering if moving from the already higher-flowing OEM cat to the RT made a difference, nice to hear that it does.

Its on youtube, people actually say its louder than that
plus the sound quality isn't justice.

With the mods I have my car blew out the OEM cat. So I went with a Catco hi-flow cat which by the way carrys the same part numbers as RT at a cheaper price. If you have a cat for emissions and can stand the noise go with a test pipe
(straight pipe in place of cat) you will notice a BIG DIFFERENCE!

well thought this would be best at first, coming from the turbo world we like to run cat-less cause turbo'ed cars like that.. but i would imagine on our tsx's that would take away some low-mid range power/torque and some some up top..??

If it lost any down low I didnt notice beacuse it screams in the upper rpm range ! The way I would describe it was that it felt like a 30 hp shot of NOS when VTEC kicked in. Plus I have the Hondata reflash, headers, cat back etc. too

Straight pipe against oem cat - some difference
Straigh pipe against a good high flow cat - not much difference at all

Well you have a point but how much would you pay for a "good high flow cat" ? 250-300 maybe 400 installed? more? For that price I can buy a lower price high flow cat and a test pipe with money to spare. I paid about 200 for both and thats installed.I noticed a difference with the hi flow cat but not as much as the test pipe. Dynos dont show differences in engine response. Some times a dyno does not show what you can obviously feel in the seat of your pants. Just like the ETD I had made from your design (thank you)helps transfer more power to the ground and feels like a hp increase but you wont see that on a dyno! right? Trial and error baby!!! Thats the name of the game!!!
