Hey guys. I've posted recently on some of my questions about a Lip Spoiler for my PWP TSX. Now I have another question, what would you experienced guys do?...

Phase Style Spoiler
-Looks better, 3M tape, but body shop said painting would be $75-125 depending on the spoiler's condition. ($116-166)

Some Rip-Off M3 Spoiler
-Would get it in white, already painted so its a cheap price, but seems like cheap quality (No 3M tape, for example). ($85)

Good quality E46 Spoiler
-This one is also not painted, but seems like a quality buy. ($117-167)


So, of these 3, I'm looking for the best buy. Ideally, I'd love the Phase, but is it a quality purchase? After all, it is a phony.

 

i don't understand why honda didn't release the concept lip spoiler, it looks much better imo

Edit: Notice it says Phase "style" Its a knockoff...

 

That "phase style" lip doesn't look any different than a normal M3 lip. I think if you found a pic of a real Phase lip you'd see the difference.

 

Well just to correct, alot of the "Rip-Off M3 Spoilers" have 3M tape. The one I got did. I bought it unpainted for $30 and then had it painted. I don't know how much the paint job cost cause I got it painted with my mugen grille. Combined they cost $205 so I would guess like $75 for the spoiler.

I'm diggin' either of the M3 spoilers. Don't let the lack of 3m tape dissuade you. The same grade of doublesided tape can be easily found in stores.

 

What concept spolier are you talking about?? got any pics?

 

i did have the M3 rip-off one b4 .. ~ it comes with 3M type and acutally the quailty is quite good .. ~ it's all abt paint job in the end .. ~
im now using the real Phase posiler .. ~ it's nthing close to the one u showed in ur Phase style one .. ~

Seems like Acura makes a factory lip spoiler for all models except for the TSX. Go figure.

 

Does anyone know if the A-spec is made of plastic, what material...?

 

Well if you goto the US Acura website they list the details for the A-Spec kit for the TSX under their performance description.

But the acrua dealer's don't seems to know anything about the deck lid spoiler option.

 

should be either Polyurethane or maybe even Fiberglass. Thinking about it, I'd guess its made with the same material the TL's spoiler is made from.

 

Looking at it again, I really don't see the difference with al these spoilers, they all look the same. Is there a difference between the three, If so what is it?

 

yeah, that isnt really a Phase lip spoiler, or a look-alike of the Phase.

 

It certainly doesnt look like a custom made spoiler for the TSX. If any of the other Acura line lip spoilers are a gauge, this one is not even close. Looks like they just threw on a Phase or M3 type.

Your right though, I asked 2 dealers in my area and niether knew anything about it.

 

Will I have to have the body shop bend this thing to fit?

 

I got mine from Sabersport on eBay (third option above I think) and it came with 3M tape and no, I didn't have to bend it. It fit perfect!

 

^ awesome. thanks for that comment, helps. i just replied to his e-mail asking if this was true, only because i found an older post where the picture of the item i want is of an owner who had to bend his spoiler for it to fit.

"Yes I did have to bend the spoiler. Actually the place that painted my spoiler did the install for me and they did bend the spoiler. But it fits and looks perfect."

Ok I installed it today... there was no bending at all required. I cleaned the trunk with alcohol before I did the install, used some masking tape to place it. Then slowly took off the tape from underneath while pushing down on the top. Here are some pics. (again this is the third option above, purchased from sabersport on ebay and painted locally)

 

looks good :thumsup:. only 1 thing in my way now, my mom is very traditional and thinks people who "do this stuff are stupid" She's a fob.

^ the biggest difference I think is the ends. The m3 rounds, while the phase is sharper

 

and Phase is acutually slightly bigger .. ~ well it's more obvious in person .. ~

 

yeah i thought it was bigger... you could prolly tell with a side shot if you had it.

 

i want the Phase, but will be content with the M3 lip spoiler. im ordering the m3 lip on sunday, but if anyone knows where i can get a phase (discontinued, i know), i'll check on pricing.

I tried to buy the M3 lip from sabersport but it says no further sales All the above lips say "Bidding has already ended". How much bigger is the PHase lip? Where else can I get the spoilers? Is it possible to buy it painted?

the sticker only comes with the first production .. ~ after that .. they dont give out stickers ~ so i have to make one myself ..

Spectrum Auto Painting in Arlington VA. They did a great job. It was 75$. Don't know if that price was reduced because I had the Mugen Grille painted at the same time for 200$ total.
