K24a1 Vs K24a2
I can be wrong, i saw some mod like intake and exhaust for k24a1 on accord i4 can make it close to the out put of our TSX... does that mean the VTEC on tsx is not doing it's job??

Just for reference, full intake, headers, exhaust, cam gears, pulleys, etc etc etc on the last 4-banger the F23A1 with V-AFC dyno tuning, you would be LUCKY to gain 10-15 whp. The K24A1 is just a different beast. Lower compression, lower rev-limit, econo VTEC-E instead of the real deal in the A2. I doubt it would be much different than the old F23 in terms of mods.
I think VTEC.net dynoed the K24A1 at like what, 140 whp? A TSX dynoed at 170 whp on the same dyno. You are NOT going to get 30 whp just from intake and exhaust. That is ridiculous.

thank you!!! that make me feel better!!
it happened when i saw k24a1's "under-rate" common on tov and then if intake will give them 10hp and another 10 for exhaust, that will make it very close to 200hp... i guss they are not correct!!

Don't underestimate the Accord, though. It doesn't have the top-end that the TSX does or the gearing, BUT...
- It still has all of the torque.
- It weighs less (100 lb lighter in EX trim, 200 lb lighter in DX trim)
- Unsprung weight is a lot less (lighter 15/16" wheels vs TSX heavy 17" wheels)
A lighter Accord with the M/T and some mods could be dangerous. A TSX 6MT will do about 15.5. But an Accord M/T is not too far behind at around 15.9. A few mods could easily make up the difference.
Do not make the mistake of downplaying torque and getting over-hyped on the peak horsepower like I have seen so many people do
. Solid torque through the lower 75% of the rev range is 90% of what you need for good performance at the drag strip and on the street. BOTH cars have that. So don't sleep.

Would a swap into the RSX be possible? Now that would make sense. And if it fits into the RSX that would mean it fits into the civic right? ANd that could mean trouble as far as theft.

tuners have already done k24 swaps into rsxs and civics. I think they good news is most people that have done it so far have done it with cheaper blocks and put their own custom pistons/cams etc into it which means they just buy an element or accord block and use that. Check out this link

question why did that dude swap a k24 into his 03 civic si??
Arent the k24a and the civic si rated the same horsepower?
and arent there alot more parts available right now for the K20a then there are for the K24a?
i just dont see why anything but the displacement would constitute homeboy going through all that trouble?

See, I wouldnt really see the point in this. If you want more power... and dont mind the butt ugly looks and inferior handling of the accord..get the V6 accord. Why bother with the upgrade? Would it have more potential than the V6???

- You cannot get a manual/V6 if you want 4 doors.
- The 4-cylinder Accord handles/brakes MUCH better.
- A K24A2 swapped 4-banger will run 15-flat, maybe even 14's with just the swap.

- That's quicker than the V6 Accord automatic.

Just running some numbers in CarTest...
Accord EX w/K24A2: 15.28 @ 91.0 w/2.40 60'
Accord EX w/K24A2 + 6MT: 15.10 @ 91.7 w/2.36 60'
Throw on some better tires to get the 60' times lower and you now have a 14 second all-factory V6-beater 4-cylinder Accord.

accord v6 6 speed runs mid 14's...throw on some better tires on that and your running low 14's....you can't compare the k24 to the j30......has 40 more horses and a lot more torque...and you need all that since the accord is a heavy car....
