Just installed Injen CAI
Man, I love these Injen CAI!!!
In 03 I bought a RSX Type S and the first mod I did was an Injen CAI, and it was like not and day :-)
Just installed the Injen SP1431P on my 06 AT and WOW, it sounds downright MEAN LOL
Anyone debating about getting one, you won't be disappointed. I sold the Rsx type S I had about a year ago, and had a truck, and just got rid of the truck and bought the TSX. I forgot how different it feels/sounds with the CAI.
Next week will be installing Comptech Catback.... then I'm sure headers will follow....and suspension, and wheels, and tires LOL
Man I also forgot how easy it is to spend $$$ moding these cars up, but I love it!

Headers before the exhaust!! You'll feel the difference in power in the headers much more than exhaust....

Can someone point me in the direction of a good place to order the RT Cat? Is it alot less restrictive than the stock CAT?

Something I just saw, I noticed for the 06 and up TSX, acura states that:
"Cell density of front catalyzer reduced from 900 to 400 cells"
I can see that if someone had an 04/05, switching to a RT Cat would make a difference, but since the new tsx's have these cat's with reduced cell density, will I really get HP/Tq

Dom, was this not the case? Please explain how it was too noisy (unless you just personally don't like the sound, which is entirely subjective).

That's why you stay above 5000rpm

Here is K&N dyno result..
Xizor stated the same thing too.. he didnt notice the loss at low RPM.

Installed it this afternoon with my roommate who had done CAI installs twice before. Took us 1.5hrs, most of the time was in removing the tire flap, getting the bolt through the fog light grate and actually assembling the intake.
I absolutely love the sound it makes, it has a very aggresive sound @ WOT. At normal throttle its sounds stock, even up to 5-6k RPM. Give it some gas and it roars. Excellent if you are looking to get some gains without comprising a nice quiet everyday ride (unlike an exhaust).
I didn't notice the loss at low RPM, but I don't gun it from stop very often anyways. The gains up are high VERY noticable. Its revs really fast past 5k RPM now.
I spent 1700 miles learning my TSX and had the sound and timing down to shift perfectly, but w/ the intake I have to start learning all over again which is a testament to the signifigant change it makes.
The car club here at Virginia Tech had a meet and went driving in the moutains since it was a beautiful day (sunny and 55F). The mountain pass was narrow and still gravelly from the snow treatment so it was a bit unnerving at times, but quite a thrill. Driving required a lot of concentration and combined with the acceleartion change w/ the intake I hit the rev limiter twice .
Both times in 2nd, its way too easy to hit 60mpg w/o realizing it on the straight aways between curves. When you hit iVtec at 6200, its an almost instant jump to the redline, so its more difficult to time. I'm really hopeing for that Hondata ECU someday to lower the iVtec kickin to 5500rpm or so.
IMO any CAI is a great investment and first mod for a TSX

The TSX engine is pretty good once it gets going but, down low, even the loss of a few ft-lbs. is going to be noticeable because there aren't that many to begin with.
edit: particularly for a relatively heavy car like it is.

You can me for saying this but... I agree with DOM.
Its just weird when a Luxury Sedan sounds too loud and riced up. Leave that for the Civics to do!
I'm staying stock cause for me its tuned fine just the way it is or maybe get the COMPTECH icebox.

I just bought a Comptech Icebox with a K & N Filter. I wanted more gains/less noise. Hope to get it soon.

Well I just switched it from CAI to SRI last night.... I am living in Minnesota right now, and we get alot of snow/wet weather from now till it warms up in April.
Sound is still very nice etc. On my RSX Type S, I had an Injen CAI and then switched it to SRI when I moved up here, and in SRI it "feels" like there is more tq then in CAI
Well after swithing to SRI last night on the TSX, I test drove it, and it does "feel" more responsive in the lower rpm's, than when I had it in CAI mode.
Also, I'm not to worried about heat, because from now untill around April, it won't really get above 30 degrees F, so the cold air does a good job of keeping the temp under the hood down.
