J's supercharged tsx

Hey Guys,

So after alot of thought of whether to go all-motor or FI, I bit the bullet and purchased the s/c kit from comptech. I also purchased the Brockway R920 unit to monitor a few things as well...

I know..I know..as some of you may remember in the beginning I wanted to stay away from modding but as you can see the bug hit me head on....

i had some issues the 1st day with the car running with some hesitation but thanks to Kenny and the guys over at Comptech it was resolved...

i don't want to go into a detailed report as others with the kit have already spoke of these things but i will say there is alot more power that is delivered smoothly and the car pulls alot more harder now...so far i'm happy with it but it's left me with wanting more power... patiently awaiting for the stage 2 s/c kit and/or k-pro and hytech setup

couple issues to note:
1. there is a slight hesitation issue between 2-3k that comptech is aware of and are working to resolve...
2. your gas mileage will go down a bit but not much...

you can find a few pics here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/3751169...33641544/show/

i threw in a teaser pic of the LED's on the rear of the car...sorry the pics were taken at night..i'll try and get a photoshoot during the daytime...

just a few more things to install and i'll be good to go...

-j

I don't think the ETD will work with the SC setup due to the SC bracket clearance.

install

Congratulations on the S/C.

What is the ballpark install price for the S/C?

That is way to much for me to tackle as a DIY.

i'm big on n/a setups but damn that s/c is sick. you should consider installing an intake, header, and exhaust to get the most out of that supercharger. also, if i'm not mistaken, i believe your s/c needs a bit of back pressure so it might not be wise to go with a high flow cat. by the way, do you have an 06? manual? nav?

you have the dyno chart? i'm not doubting you, but that's whay my research as well as my mechanic have discovered. plus, you have to deal with pescy CELs with a high flow cat.

No, i don't. I'm sorry. I'm just going by what he told me. He said 226whp with stock cat and like 236 or 237whp with the random cat. I realized those numbers were not SAE when i went to the dyno shop. But i doubt he was lying about it. He put his stock cat back on because he felt the car was too loud with the hi flow cat. He kept mentioning that he was upset that he was going to lose the additional 10whp from the hi flow cat but he just didn't like the noise.

As for myself, I have the s/c with comptech header, comptech icebox, random hi flow cat, and stock exhaust. I haven't dynoed my car yet, but i'm going to go soon. I don't know if i've been lucky but i have not had any CELs with the random cat.

That's what I thought when I saw the pics. Homey straight blew his load right out the gate. Congrats on getting the big one out of the way. I still beleive that adding the wrong mod first can make it work against you. Like just adding a high flow cat without already having a header and exhaust.

My suggestions for you are: Intake, Header, Pulley, Exhaust. That might make you a little bit happier with the power.

be careful if you decide to go with pulleys, i know the comptech s/c kit come with one and resizing any of the others might do you some harm.

I don't think i will ever mess with the underdrive pullies. I got my car back saturday and the coolant leak was fixed.. but i was getting some really bad belt slipping. I noticed that the two bolts on the side of the tensioner were massively overtightened. Once i loosen them and tightened the belt a little more, the belt slipping was fixed. The car feels like it has more power than when i intially had my s/c installed. I want to dyno my car asap.

When i was coming home last night, some guy was tailgating me and i realized it was an 06 PWP TSX. I gun it and pull away and he tries to keep up but couldn't. He was probably thinking.. WTF.

tail lights are custom built by LM Retrofits...these are the one's from tsx.fury's car...they still have some issues but i've read that LM Retrofits are ready to mass-produce these...not sure though...

there weren't any guidelines on how to not screw up the s/c...
using 93 octane and if you are punching the gas all the time then it will eat up the gas...
as far as if the s/c is worth it......to me it was worth it but to each his own...

the supercharger kit comes with A pulley (i'm not sure which one though), whereas the unorthodox pulley kit comes with 3 of them (crank and 2 accessory pulleys).

Glad that you're enjoyin the SC J! No problem on helping out with it the first day

And the SC kit adds a pulley to the system. The pulley is on the blower. I've heard that if you were to try the change some of the other pulleys it would throw off the pulley ratio. You might be able to compensate by making some of the other pulleys larger to keep the ratio the same, but I'm not sure how it all works. Maybe someone more knowledgable can comment.

Most people with the SC usually just change out the blower pulley instead. A smaller pulley allows the blower to spin fast, which ups the boost and can usually generate 20-30 whp per pound of PSI. The Comptech SC kit comes with a 5 psi pulley, but I've seen the RSX SC guys running pulleys that generate as much as 11 psi
