I am looking for an INTAKE
Trending Topics
i just put mine in this weekend, and i love it. the only problem is i can't stop revving my engine. the purr is lovely. it was my first mod, and it was a piece of cake. oh yeah, i got the injen. lots of people on the site suggested it, plus i like the fact that it can turn in to a sri also.
I got the Comptech Icebox. While it doesn't yield as much of a performance gain as mandrel bent tube intakes like the Injen and K&N, it has a more muffled, deeper tone to it. Performance impact was substantial, and once I hit about 4k the engine winds out to redline much faster. VTEC switchover is a lot more audible too - the intake sounds awesome.
The retention of the stock air box and positioning of the intake duct also reduces the chances of aspirating water. This isn't a huge issue though, as the CAI's made for the TSX draw air in high enough so that you'd only hydrolock if you drove through a river.
I don't know if I'm going to keep it or not. I may move up to a K&N or Injen unit in the future, especially if I decide to supercharge - the Comptech S/C doesn't affect throttle body positioning so all the intakes will work in conjunction with it.

Hmmm, wish there was a way to hear sound clips of the different intakes.
On paper, I like the K&N because it comes with the filter cover. But which one has the better sound and not too ricey?

i've heard that the injen and k&n cai won't work with the comptech supercharger and only the comptech icebox will. not really a big issue since most people won't supercharge but something to think about.
btw. i have injen and it rocks

What happened to all the AEM recommendations I've seen in the past? Is there a reason no one is recommending it? I, too, am on the fence. I won't do a CAI, but instead a SRI. I know AEM only makes the SRI so perhaps that's why it's not showing up here.
